Conversations with Suzet Alvo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzet Alvo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey began when I moved to Israel from Turkey, leaving behind a corporate career in search of balance and fulfillment. That’s where I discovered yoga not just as a form of exercise, but as a way of life. Yoga became my compass, guiding me toward a more centered, peaceful, and purpose-driven path.

Today, I’m the founder and owner of Happy Kidz Yoga, a program dedicated to bringing mindfulness, movement, and joy to children. I’m a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, 120-hour certified kids yoga teacher, and 100-hour Somatic Yoga Practitioner. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with both athletes and children, witnessing firsthand how yoga can help them connect to their bodies, calm their minds, and build confidence.

Beyond yoga, my passion for healing inspired me to become a certified Reiki practitioner and psychic healer, deepening my belief in a holistic approach to well-being, one that nurtures both the physical and energetic aspects of life.

As a mom of two, my mission is close to my heart: to show my children and every child I teach how to be happy with themselves, understand who they are, and truly enjoy what they love in today’s busy, competitive world. That’s why I started this journey: to bring more joy, self-discovery, and mindfulness into their lives, one breath, one pose, and one smile at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting a new life in a different country, with different languages, while transitioning from the corporate world to a wellness career came with its challenges. Building Happy Kidz Yoga from the ground up meant learning everything from marketing and business management to connecting with schools and parents on my own. There were moments of self-doubt and the constant challenge of balancing family life while pursuing my passion. But every obstacle became a lesson, and each step, even the hard ones, brought me closer to creating something meaningful that truly aligns with who I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Happy Kidz Yoga, we specialize in bringing mindfulness, movement, and joy into children’s lives through yoga. Our mission is to help kids discover that they already have a wonderful tool within themselves, the ability to calm their minds, connect with their bodies, and find balance in any situation.

We also give children the space to show up as themselves, find their voice, and express who they are whether through journaling, meditation, or mindful discussions. Our classes are designed to help kids feel seen, heard, and confident both on and off the mat.

I believe everyone in this field does their best, but I feel truly lucky to have an incredible team of teachers. Each one of them is deeply trained, both on and off the mat, and shares the same passion and heart for working with children. Together, we focus on creating a safe, fun, and nurturing space where kids can explore who they are and build confidence through yoga and mindfulness.

What I’m most proud of is seeing how yoga becomes a part of their lives. We, as adults, may have discovered these tools later in life, but our kids are growing up with them now. That’s what sets Happy Kidz Yoga apart: we don’t just teach poses; we give children lifelong tools for self-awareness, resilience, joy, and self-expression. From babies to teenagers, we teach and grow with every age, helping each child discover their own inner light.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful people supporting me along the way.
My husband has been my biggest cheerleader from day one and has always believed in me, even when I doubted myself. My kids constantly remind me why I started this journey, and they tell me how proud they are of me, and that keeps my heart full.

My dear friend Rozi has been there through every step, cheering me on with love and encouragement. My life coach, Lucy, helped me see my potential and guided me through moments of uncertainty. I also feel deep gratitude for my previous boss, Misty, who supported and inspired me long before Happy Kidz Yoga was even a dream.

And of course, I have to mention all the amazing Happy Kidz Yoga teachers who are part of this journey. I was truly lucky to have each of them by my side. I trust them completely and feel so grateful for their dedication, love, and shared vision. I’ve also been blessed with incredible teachers and mentors throughout my yoga path who shaped not only my teaching but also my way of living. I respect and love them all deeply.
