Hi Courtney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Coleisure Apparel: My Story
My name is Courtney Tate, and I’m the founder and owner of Coleisure Apparel, a brand I started in 2021 at the age of 27.
Coleisure Apparel was created to provide affordable, high-quality leisure and activewear for everyday people—men, women, and children who want to look and feel good in what they wear. Right now, my line focuses on women’s apparel, but my goal is to expand into men’s and kids’ collections in the near future.
I built this brand completely from the ground up on my own. The name Coleisure actually started as a play on my name—“Co” for Courtney and “Leisure” for the comfortable, stylish pieces I love to wear. Over time, the meaning evolved. Today, Coleisure represents unisex leisure and activewear, designed for everyone—no matter your age, size, or lifestyle.
I did take a short break from my business to return to school, which slowed things down for a bit. But in 2025, I made the decision to relaunch and rebuild Coleisure from the ground up again—with a fresh vision, new inventory, and a renewed sense of purpose. My focus now is to reintroduce the brand, build consistency, and prepare to officially relaunch strong in 2026.
At its core, Coleisure is more than just clothing—it’s a reminder that you can start small, stay true to your passion, and grow into something great. I’m just a small-town girl chasing big dreams and creating a brand that represents comfort, confidence, and everyday style.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everyone has a bump in the road , it’s been joyful, rewarding and has taught me a lot about myself and becoming an entrepreneur. The struggle I feel I had were allowing my down days to interfere with how I showed uo for myself and my business. From losing close family and friends, to funding thw business out of pocket and not catering to the correct market were some of the struggles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I currently work a full time job as an Payroll Account Manager. My business for now is my side hustle until I can allow them to trade places. I sell fitness/leisure apparel for men , women and children. I workout about 3-4 days a week to keep myself in shape. My leisure wear offers more than affordablility and quality, its offers a piece of clothing that makes you feel good and look good in the comfort of your own skin.
How do you think about happiness?
My daughter and me exceling in life is what makes me happy. To see her wake up everyday with a smile on her face because shes comfortable and lives a good life. Its fulfilling for me because I can say I created that comfort peaceful environment for her. The joy of being able to provide and push myself to higher limits in order to create the life I want for her and myself means so much to me. Everyday my mind is in a place to want more and do more.
