Meet Mollye Rhea of For Momentum.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mollye Rhea.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mollye. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I founded For Momentum 15 years ago, having spent the formative years of my career in marketing in agency, corporate and nonprofit sectors. Our agency is focused on the intersection of these 3 cultures. For Momentum establishes and supports partnerships between companies and nonprofits that advance the missions of both partners. Some of our nonprofit clients include organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Habitat for Humanity International and Meals on Wheels. Corporate clients we’ve served include Novartis, IHG (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and other hotel brands) Finish Line and Dunkin. On any given day, we are working with 15-20 clients at a time.

Early in my career, I had the opportunity to volunteer on an Ad Club project benefitting Georgia’s foster youth. That volunteer experience was a life-altering one and put me on my current path of supporting collaborative marketing relationships between companies and nonprofits. I love my job because every day brings a new opportunity to make a community impact with innovative cause partnerships!

Has it been a smooth road?
I like to say I got my Masters Degree from the School of Hard Knocks! I’m not sure I’d use the word “struggle” but we regularly explore side roads and navigate around potholes.

Because our work is focused on forging new partnerships, there is no clear map and we have to work to find the way. The opportunity to learn so much in a hands-on capacity has been a key element to our success.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the For Momentum.com story. Tell us more about the business.
For Momentum unites nonprofits with companies in a way that benefits both organizations. Benefits include enhanced visibility, high-touch relationships with customers, employees and donors and the opportunity to shine a light on and create significant social impact.

Founded in 2003, For Momentum has emerged as a leading cause marketing agency that helps companies and nonprofits prosper through partnership. Corporate Responsibility Magazine has recognized FM as one of the top five cause marketing firms in the United States. Since our inception, we have served more than 125 nonprofit and corporate clients and raised over $750 million to support important nonprofit missions.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
For Momentum recently conducted a survey among corporate partnership decision makers. Over 85% reported being active in nonprofit partnership activities.

Corporate philanthropy is rapidly evolving. Today, more consumers and employers expect companies to take a leadership role in solving important social issues. One of the best ways for companies to solve important social problems is to partner with nonprofit organizations. As companies look to be a force for good, they are becoming more strategic about their cause partnerships. Companies are also becoming more selective as they look for nonprofit partners who align with their social purpose.
