Adelaide Naumann of Lookout Mountain, TN

We recently had the chance to connect with Adelaide Divine Davenport Naumann and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Adelaide, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Listening to music that inspires me to create new gifts always makes time disappear. It’s when I feel most centered and creative. Each song feels like a spark, guiding me toward new designs, moods, and stories to tell through my work.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Adelaide, owner of Divine Goods, located on Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, the place where I was born and raised.

You may wonder why I chose the name Divine Goods. “Divine” is actually my middle name, passed down from my great-grandmother, Adelaide Divine McGee, who everyone lovingly called Miss Addie. I’ve always cherished that name and wanted to build something that honored both her spirit and the sense of home she embodied.

At Divine Goods, I’m a big believer in thoughtful details and genuine hospitality. I take pride in offering not only beautiful, meaningful gifts, but also the kind of personal service that makes every customer feel seen and appreciated. My hope is that you can feel that same care in every box that’s sent.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I often believed that my ideas weren’t important or that creativity was something you either had or didn’t. Over time, I realized that creativity is really about curiosity, care, and connection, about noticing the little things that bring joy to others. That shift in thinking is at the heart of Divine Goods: every gift is crafted with intention, detail, and the hope that it makes someone feel seen and appreciated.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Self-doubt has always been my biggest hurdle. Growing up as the youngest of four, I often felt the need to measure up, to prove myself. Over time, I realized that the key was trusting my own ideas and perspective. This is something I carry into Divine Goods every day. Each gift I curate reflects that belief: thoughtful, authentic, and made with care, because I’ve learned that confidence comes from creating what feels true to you, not from trying to fit someone else’s mold.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Ha! Not exactly. I think people often assume I’m an extrovert, but I actually thrive in solitude. I need that quiet space to recharge. It’s where the inspiration for many of Divine Goods’ gifts begins. Stillness and reflection have always fueled my creativity more than constant motion ever could.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Learning to be satisfied with my own accomplishments without external praise took a long time. But now, running my own business, I’ve discovered a deep sense of fulfillment in the work itself. Creating thoughtful gifts, connecting with customers, and seeing ideas come to life. That satisfaction is its own kind of reward.
