We recently had the chance to connect with Kidist Girum and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kidist, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Hi thank you so much for having me 😊Lately, I’ve really been enjoying traveling and reading the Word of God. Traveling gives me excitement and new experiences, while reading scripture gives me peace and guidance. Both keep me inspired and balanced.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kidist Girum, and I wear a few creative and professional hats 😊 I’m a model, makeup artist, and wedding organizer, and I currently work in a project management/change management role. I’m originally from Ethiopia and moved to the United States a little over two years ago. Since then, I’ve had the chance to travel to around 18 states so far, which has been an incredible way to learn, grow, and experience different cultures. Beyond my current work, I’m building toward opening my own beauty business, where I can bring together my passion for creativity, artistry, and helping people feel their best. My journey is unique because I’m blending both corporate leadership and creative entrepreneurship, and I’m excited about where this path is taking me!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think bonds break when people stop communicating or make assumptions about each other. What really restores them is just being honest, forgiving, and willing to reconnect. I’ve seen how even small efforts like checking in or having a real conversation can bring people back together.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self not to worry so much things will fall into place. You’re stronger than you think, not everyone is your friend, and not everybody needs to know you. The challenges you face will only make you better
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My best friends would say faith, growth, and real connections matter most to me. I try to stay true to myself, keep learning, and support the people I care about.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want to be remembered as someone who lived with faith, courage, and kindness and left people better than I found them.
