Today we’d like to introduce you to PJ And Bernice Morris.
Hi PJ and Bernice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our Story — The Heart Behind the Peculiar Podcast
We’re PJ and Bernice Morris — a husband-and-wife team with over 20 years in marriage, ministry, and mentorship — learning, growing, and walking out faith one honest conversation at a time.
How It All Began
Our story didn’t start in a church pew — it started after 9/11. PJ had just returned home from deployment while serving in the United States Air Force, and Bernice was already deeply rooted in ministry under the leadership of her father, Bishop Michael Cole.
When we met in 2001, it wasn’t just a love story — it was a divine connection. What started as friendship quickly became a shared mission to serve God and His people. Not long after dating, PJ began serving in ministry under Bishop Cole’s leadership, where both of us would learn what it truly meant to serve before leading.
Serving Under Great Leadership
We’ve been blessed to serve under some incredible leaders over the years. From Bishop Cole’s apostolic covering to serving as Youth and Young Adult Pastors under Bishop William Murphy III at The dReam Center Church of Atlanta, every season shaped our faith and sharpened our calling.
We also had the privilege of serving as Lead Pastors at GO Church, where we ministered under Bishop Cole’s oversight — a powerful season that deepened our understanding of shepherding God’s people, leading with integrity, and trusting Him through transition.
Today, we continue to serve faithfully under Pastor Craig Snead at Better Together Church (BTG) — pouring into couples, families, and believers who are striving to grow stronger together in faith and in life.
The Birth of The Peculiar Podcast
After years of ministry, one thing became clear — people need a space where faith and real life can coexist. Where you can be honest about your struggles, laugh through your lessons, and still hold tight to hope.
That’s where The Peculiar Podcast (aka The Odd Pod) was born — a space for real conversations about faith, marriage, family, and purpose. We wanted to show that being “peculiar” isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being set apart for God’s purpose.
From two mics in a small room to a global audience of believers and seekers, this podcast has become a platform for truth, transparency, and transformation. Every episode is rooted in scripture, seasoned with laughter, and soaked in authenticity.
Faith Friday and the Devotional Journey
Before the podcast, we spent a year ministering through a segment called Faith Friday — short, powerful encouragements meant to strengthen faith and stir hearts. When we moved from North Dakota to Georgia, that ministry went on pause… until God prompted us to bring it back — this time through the podcast community.
Now, Faith Friday has become one of the most-loved weekly moments among Peculiar Nation, connecting believers around the world with reminders of God’s faithfulness and strength for the journey.
In 2024, that same heart birthed the 365-Day Couples Devotional — a daily journey to help husbands and wives grow closer to God and to each other through scripture, prayer, and practical action. Every page reflects what we’ve learned over more than two decades of marriage and ministry.
Why We Do What We Do
Our mission is simple: to help people live out their faith in a real, relatable way.
To show that marriage can thrive, families can heal, and faith can flourish — even in a modern world.
We believe you don’t have to fit in to make an impact — you just have to be faithful.
That’s what being peculiar is all about.
We’re not perfect — just purposeful. And if our story tells you anything, it’s this: God can use every season, every challenge, and every “yes” to shape something beautiful.
Welcome to the family. Welcome to Peculiar Nation.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey hasn’t been easy — but it’s been worth it. We’ve walked through the tension of being in ministry while raising a family, balancing callings as husband and wife, and working full-time in the corporate world. There were seasons where we were pouring into others while quietly asking God to refill us.
We’ve had to learn how to lead in a world that changes faster than ever — where technology evolves overnight and every generation hears God through a different lens. Through it all, we’ve discovered that relevance never replaces relationship, and leadership always starts at home.
From North Dakota to Georgia, every move, every challenge, and every moment of uncertainty has drawn us closer to our purpose. Georgia became the place where God redefined our “why” — reminding us that obedience will always take you somewhere worth going.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What We’re Most Proud Of
We’re most proud of building a community — Peculiar Nation — where people feel seen, encouraged, and strengthened in their walk with Christ.
Through the podcast, Faith Friday, and our 365-Day Couples Devotional, we’ve watched people grow in their marriages, deepen their faith, and heal from places they never talked about publicly before.
Knowing that God uses our real-life journey to help others is our greatest honor.
What Sets Us Apart
What makes the Peculiar Podcast different is simple:
We’re real. We’re relational. We’re rooted in the Word.
We don’t pretend to be perfect — we share our struggles, lessons, mistakes, and victories openly.
We’ve been:
Ministers
Parents
Corporate professionals
Leaders
Students of marriage
People who’ve had to start over, trust God, and grow
We understand the pressure of balancing life, faith, and responsibility — and we speak from lived experience, not theory.
Our conversations feel genuine because they are. Our goal isn’t just to entertain — it’s to equip, encourage, and remind people that being “peculiar” is exactly what God calls His people to be.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We don’t believe in luck because nothing in our lives is random — it’s purpose, providence, and God’s hand at work. Luck suggests accidents, coincidences, or the universe “lining things up.” But we’ve seen too much of God’s intentionality to think our steps happen by chance.
Scripture says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.”
Not lucky — ordered.
Not random — orchestrated.
Everything we are, everything we’ve overcome, and everything we walk into is because of God’s will, God’s timing, and God’s grace… not luck.
