Steve Spencer III & Los The Lion & Cj Carter’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Steve Spencer III & Los The Lion & Cj Carter and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Steve & Los The Lion & Cj, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Even though we consider it work, our podcast has brought us alot of joy. Life can sometimes get in the way and keep you from checking in on your friends, our podcast originally started out as normal handout sessions for us to catch up every week and talk about the things we enjoy. Eventually we decided to turn our conversations into a show. While we are still treating it as a fun past time it has also become a place for us to talk, learn, vent, while also improving our mental health.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Steve, I am one of the co-founders of a small brand called CC03.Currently our brand consists of a YouTube channel, a podcast, a website and music created by our co-founder Los the Lion. Our goal is to become a company with hands in multiple different business starting with the entertainment industry. Our brand was created by me and my best friends Ceej, Los, and Mary jane, we created this brand with the hopes building our own community of like-minded fans who like anime, gaming, and being true to yourself as much as we do. Like any other group of friends, we felt that when we put our heads together we can move mountains so we decided to take the leap and do our best to build something that will live on way after we are gone. Currently we are working on a new release schedule for our podcast “Smokers Paradise”, our inhouse musician Los the Lion just released a new single titled “Blue Hair”, Cj and together the group is always working on new ways to grow and better our business.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
The thing that can break the bond between people is not being honest to yourself or others. Growing up I was always the helpful friend who would do anything for others, while also keeping the things that bothered me to myself. Keeping how you feel locked away is never the answer. We hold our tongue because we are afraid of hurting people’s feelings , dont want them to think differently of us, or just because we want to put a smile on someone face. At some point in life we must all come to terms with who we are and how we feel about things, life can be pulled away from you in an instant it is best to be honest and tell people how you feel because you never know when that chance can be taken away. That same honesty can also restore a bond, you being honest can be a domino effect leading to others allowing themselves to be honest in all aspects of life.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure has always held me back but now that I met my best friends and started this business I feel unstoppable, every faliure is just another chance to learn something new

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Being kind to others no matter who they are. I was raised knowing you should treat everyone the same, it doesn’t matter if it is the CEO or janitor, we are all human

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel like I am building towards my purpose in life, but I am not there yet
