Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashad Jones-Jennings.
Hi Rashad, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee — specifically the Westside Community — to a single mother raising five children on her own. My environment came with challenges: poverty, crime, and limited access to opportunity. But those early years shaped me, strengthened me, and gave me a deep understanding of the communities I now serve.
After high school, instead of heading straight to a four-year university, I made the decision to stay home and attend Chattanooga State Community College. Those two years changed my life. As a 6’8″ forward/center, I earned all-conference honors, averaged 16.3 points and 14 rebounds, and ranked #1 in the nation in rebounding. That performance earned me an athletic scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where I continued to succeed — becoming the Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year, a Division I rebounding leader, and breaking a major NCAA milestone by recording 30 rebounds in a single game, something only ten Division I players had done since 1973.
After college, I pursued a professional basketball career overseas, playing in Greece, Germany, France, Mexico, Taiwan, and Chile. Those years taught me discipline, resilience, and how to adapt quickly, lessons that would later become essential in business.
When my basketball career came to an end, I transitioned into real estate. I started at the bottom as an agent, learned the industry step-by-step, and eventually moved into development. Today, as the CEO of Post Pro Capital, I lead real estate and land development projects throughout Chattanooga and Atlanta, creating jobs, opportunities, and community-centered growth in the very kinds of neighborhoods I grew up in.
My journey has been about full-circle impact: rising from a challenged community, gaining experiences across the world, and returning to build and reinvest where it all began.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth — but that’s what made me who I am.
Growing up in a low-income household, I understood early what it meant to struggle. Nothing was guaranteed. I faced the common challenges of inner-city life — limited resources, unstable environments, and the pressure to make something out of nothing. Basketball became my outlet and my escape, but even that path required a relentless commitment.
After professional sports, the transition into real estate wasn’t easy. Starting over in a new industry meant rebuilding my identity and my skill set from scratch. I dealt with deals that fell through, capital that didn’t come together, and the constant pressure of entering a field where experience and relationships often matter more than talent.
But every obstacle sharpened me. Every setback prepared me. And every challenge reinforced my mission: to create opportunities for people from communities like mine.
