Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Radio Brazil Atlanta

Radio Brazil Atlanta shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Radio Brazil Atlanta, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Samba.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Débora Noleto. I am a Brazilian journalist and media entrepreneur based in Georgia, and co-founder of Rádio Brazil Atlanta alongside Sofie Prado. Together, we created a digital media platform dedicated to representing, informing, and strengthening the Brazilian community in the state of Georgia.

Beyond journalism, our work is deeply rooted in community recognition and legacy building. We are the creators of the Destaques do Ano Awards, the only annual award dedicated exclusively to recognizing Brazilian entrepreneurs, leaders, and changemakers in Georgia. The award was born from the need to give visibility, credibility, and appreciation to those who contribute daily to the growth and positive impact of the Brazilian community.

Through this project, we celebrate stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and leadership, while also creating meaningful connections between the Brazilian community and local institutions. Rádio Brazil Atlanta and the Destaques do Ano Awards together represent a platform of voice, recognition, and belonging — highlighting a community that plays an essential role in Georgia’s cultural and economic landscape.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Always revolutionary

When did you last change your mind about something important?
Last year when I decided to move again.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is community recognition. I strongly believe that people and communities thrive when their efforts, stories, and contributions are seen and valued. For immigrants especially, recognition is not about ego — it is about dignity, belonging, and legacy.

Within the Brazilian community in Georgia, I’ve seen countless entrepreneurs, leaders, and families work tirelessly to build businesses, support others, and contribute to the local economy, often without acknowledgment. Protecting the culture of recognition means making sure these stories are told, these achievements are celebrated, and this community understands its own worth.

This value guides everything we do at Rádio Brazil Atlanta and is the foundation of the Destaques do Ano Awards. Recognition creates pride, strengthens identity, and ensures that our culture is not only preserved, but respected and remembered.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people might misunderstand my legacy as being only about media or events. In reality, my work has never been about platforms, numbers, or visibility alone — it has always been about building dignity, recognition, and historical record for a community that is often overlooked.

Rádio Brazil Atlanta and the Destaques do Ano Awards are tools, not the legacy itself. The legacy is creating a culture where Brazilian immigrants in Georgia feel seen, respected, and proud of their contributions. It’s about documenting stories that would otherwise disappear and honoring people who quietly shape their communities through hard work, leadership, and service.
