Life & Work with Nataki Minix of Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nataki Minix.

Hi Nataki, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Roswell Alpharetta area of Atlanta. I always was a friend that knew how to do hair and anything that had to do with fashion or style. My friends always came to me for all the looks and ideas of whatever it is that they wanted to do so I began my journey as an assistant for a well-known stylist, whose talents was beyond our time. I learned so many things from him, and eventually decided to go on my own journey throughout the years, I worked in a few different salons in the Atlanta area for so many different wonderful Stylist owners and learned the ins and outs. Finally I got the opportunity to open my own salon and when that time came, it was no struggle. It was no hard times all the pieces just fell into place and that is how StarTaki Hair Lounge began.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, there were a few struggles along the way working for some complicated people having a partner or two that weren’t the most desirable but all of those things happen for a reason and built the strength that I needed to be able to be on my own.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I knew from the very beginning I did not want to be the normal quote “Stylist in this industry. I knew I had other aspects that included fashion, image and Influence and I wanted to be able to share that with my clients as well as anyone that worked around me over the years I worked with celebrities, influential people in Atlanta and , just the everyday girl that loves to look good and wants to make sure her image is on point. Honestly those woman are the most important to me. Elevating someone’s look and seeing how amazing they feel after the transformation. Is like no other feeling. Knowing that’s why they come to me and refer people. That’s how you continue to grow in this business. Your personal relationships with people. It’s more than just your talent, it’s how you make people feel.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My grandmother and mother were extremely beautiful and fashionable and took their appearance very seriously. So of course that would rub off on me.. My grandmother had clothes, hats and accessories for days. As a little girl I couldn’t wait to visit her, because I would spend all my time in her things. Playing dress up and creating scenarios focused around what I had put together. Either I was going to church, or hopping on a plane to go somewhere fabulous. Not much has changed. 😂
