Life & Work with Alex Hodges of Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Hodges.

Hi Alex, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Alex Hodges, and I’m an Atlanta food and experience content creator behind the platform @afoodflexwithlex. I’ve always loved food — I was that person constantly talking about where I ate, what I ordered, and what I wanted to try next, and still do lol. I naturally started sharing my meals and experiences on my personal page, and people would often ask me for recommendations. After being encouraged multiple times to create a separate platform, I finally took the leap and created a page dedicated to showcasing the places I visit.

What began as simply sharing my love for food has grown into something much bigger. I built my platform to highlight restaurants, experiences, and hidden gems in Atlanta and beyond, with a strong focus on supporting local businesses. For me, it’s never just about what’s on the plate — it’s about the vibe, the atmosphere, the service, and the overall experience.

Getting to where I am today has really come down to consistency, staying true to who I am, and believing in myself even during moments of doubt. I didn’t try to create content that looked like everyone else’s — I focused on showing up authentically and sharing experiences in a way that feels natural to me. There were times I questioned the journey, but I didn’t give up. Staying committed, continuing to learn, and trusting my vision have helped me grow into the content creator I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been times when I had plenty of content filmed but didn’t have the energy or motivation to edit and put it all together. Content creation takes more than just showing up — it’s planning, filming, editing, and being consistent, even when you’re tired.

There have also been seasons where I didn’t have much content at all. A lot of what I create is based on me going out and supporting businesses on my own time, which I genuinely enjoy. But if I’m busy, focused on other responsibilities, or simply not in a space to spend money, then I don’t have new content to share. That can be challenging when consistency is so important in this space.

It can also be frustrating to pour time, energy, and resources into a piece of content and feel like the numbers don’t reflect the effort behind it. I’ve had to learn not to measure my growth solely by engagement or views. Instead, I focus on the impact, the connections I’m building, and the businesses I’m supporting. Those things matter just as much — if not more — than the metrics.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a food and experience content creator specializing in showcasing restaurants, hidden gems, and unique activities in Atlanta and beyond. While food is at the core of my platform, I focus on the full experience — the ambiance, service, energy, and overall vibe — because that’s what truly shapes how people connect with a place.

Over time, my platform has grown to include a mix of personal visits, influencer events, and brand collaborations. I genuinely enjoy discovering and supporting businesses on my own, but I’ve also had the opportunity to partner with brands and attend curated experiences that align with my audience. Being trusted to represent businesses in those spaces is something I’m proud of.

I’m known for being genuine and honest in my reviews. Whether I’m visiting on my own or collaborating, my audience knows that my content reflects my real experience. I don’t just focus on what’s trending — I focus on what feels authentic to me.

What I’m most proud of is the consistency it took to build this platform and the community that has grown with me. I’ve stayed true to my voice and vision, even during slower seasons. My goal has always been to help people discover places they may not have tried otherwise while supporting businesses in a meaningful way.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way — whether you’ve liked a post, shared a recommendation, collaborated with me, or trusted me to showcase your business. The support truly means more than people know.
