Meet Joey & Paige Morris of Atlanta Metro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey & Paige Morris.

Hi Joey & Paige, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Joey and I (Paige) met almost 10 years ago at one of his seminars. I was a professional obedience dog trainer in New Orleans, wanting to expand my knowledge into the field of protection dogs. At that time, Joey was actively importing and supplying K9s to the Military and Police Departments. We shared a deep love for dogs and immediately hit it off. From there, I moved to Georgia to marry Joey, and we started OverWatch K9 Academy, a dog obedience training company. We feel blessed to now be going on 8 years with OverWatch K9, with expansion into Columbus, Ohio, and 6 trainers working for us.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a great ride, it’s hard to have a bad day when you’re playing with dogs!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Joey has a background working with numerous species of animals – from rehabilitating birds of prey, to studying wolf packs, and working with marine life. The behavioral knowledge he has gathered through the years shapes our training theory – focusing on working dogs in drive, so that they are excited to be obedient, is what separates us from other dog obedience companies. Joey would say, “we are supposed to be the superior species – we should be able to manipulate their behavior with minimal to no pressure” – Paige

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Atlanta’s focus on greenery – the amount of trees and parks throughout the city – and the great food! Traffic would have to be the worst part of Atlanta, but if you time it right it isn’t too bad.
