Inspiring Conversations with Jadon Relaford of Jds Horse Ranch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jadon Relaford.

Hi Jadon , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It started from a kid, with an undeniable love for all animals. At the age of 6 I was introduced to horses at a school fair. Later in life one of my uncles saw my passion for them and started taking me out west to Oklahoma and encouraged my riding out there. I also rode in Texas as well. There was a local stable in my home town I started working at that would also feed my passion. Moving to Atlanta “the big city” for school I had assumed I wouldn’t be able to continue my Ciwboy journey. After graduating from Morris Brown College my first job was in insurance. I had a client at the time who had a horse and invited me to come out to the stable “passion ignited again” from that reconnection I ended up getting my first horse “Sky”., a rescue horse. I was able to learn so much from that experience. I later acquired another horse so that me and friends could ride together because we use to take turns riding Sky lol. It was on a Saturday or Sunday and one of YOUR cousins lol came to me and said “I’ll pay you to ride” it was in that moment where the greater dream was born. The initial dream was just me having my own horse. Stay tuned if you want to hear more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been smooth. Finding my own place (land and in society) has always been a constant struggle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner of JDs Horse Ranch, specializing in western riding lessons and trail rides. We are know for providing a comfortable space inclusive to all. I am most proud of the exposure opportunities giving to people who in most cases would have never had the opportunity to be around or even on a horse.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
As much as I love animals. I very strongly do not like spiders lol
