Meet Vincent Everson of Vincent Keith Everson CPA LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Everson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started when I was 12, it was 1973, and I was in the backseat of my grandfather’s car, who worked for a brick laying company and sold products out of the back of his car to the local neighborhoods. Watching my grandfather drive around selling products to the locals gave me the idea to start a business. A little while after, my older brother and I went around our neighborhood offering to shovel snow, and we were relatively successful and made a bit of money from it. A few years later, my father started his own business, namely an auto repair shop in his garage. I was still interested in business, and decided that I wanted to go to school for it. I pursued a dual major in accounting and finance. After graduating, I started working for large financial planning companies, and got to see how the best of the best did their jobs in their corporate headquarters. Several years later, I started to work for the IRS. Over the next decade, I worked in numerous different states with the IRS. I then started to get offers from several CPA firms, and I eventually took one of them up on their offer for a job. I then later got a job at a large bank to be a trust tax administrator, for which I was sent to receive training. I then moved to Georgia with my wife and kids in 2006, and I started doing contract work as a cpa. 2 years later, the 2008 financial recession happened, and I saw how everyone in my community was negatively affected and how millions of people were losing their jobs. I realized that a lot of people were irresponsibly getting loans that they could not handle. So I decided to start my business in 2009 in order to help give advice to members of my community and to help them properly plan out their finances in order to optimize their tax deductions, and also to help them prepare their tax returns. Several years later, I worked for the FDIC as a tax accountant, and then I later worked for the DOL. After working there for a decade, I retired. I then decided to go back into my business with all of the knowledge that I have accumulated over decades of work experience in both the government and private sectors.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, I have had to deal with medical emergencies and several recessions, which affected many people like me.
