Community Highlights: Meet Tara Covington of Covington National Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Covington.

Hi Tara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my real estate journey in 2016 when I earned my license in Arizona and began working in timeshare sales. That experience gave me a strong foundation in sales, communication, and understanding what motivates people when making big decisions.

In 2022, I expanded my career by getting licensed in Alabama, and in 2023 I made the move to Atlanta, where I earned my Georgia real estate license and fully stepped into residential real estate. Since then, I’ve been focused on helping buyers find homes that truly fit their lifestyle and goals, and helping sellers close one chapter so they can move forward to something better.

My path hasn’t been completely traditional, but each step has shaped how I show up for my clients today… hands on, resourceful, and committed to going above and beyond to make the process as smooth and successful as possible.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is the fear of not knowing everything. Real estate is something you really learn by doing, so I’ve had to get comfortable figuring things out along the way and trusting myself in the process.

During my time in timeshare sales, I was also pushed out of my comfort zone. While I wouldn’t say I’ve completely overcome my fear of public speaking, I’ve become much more comfortable presenting in smaller, more personal group settings. That experience helped me grow in my communication skills and confidence when working directly with clients.

Overall, those challenges have shaped me into a more adaptable and resourceful agent who is committed to finding solutions and showing up for my clients every step of the way.

We’ve been impressed with Covington National Realty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is centered around providing a hands on, full service real estate experience for both buyers and sellers. I help buyers find homes that truly align with their lifestyle and long term goals, and I guide sellers through the process of closing one chapter so they can confidently move on to the next.

What really sets me apart is how involved I am with my clients. I don’t take a “one size fits all” approach. I step in wherever I’m needed to make the process smoother and less stressful. That has meant doing things that go well beyond what people typically expect from a real estate agent, including attending a court hearing on behalf of a client to help move their transaction forward.

I’ve built my brand around being reliable, resourceful, and genuinely invested in the people I work with. I’m most proud of the level of care and dedication I bring to each situation, because no two clients or transactions are the same. I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re not just getting someone to open doors and write contracts. They’re getting someone who will advocate for them, problem solve, and go the extra mile to make sure they’re taken care of from start to finish.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is from when I lived in Oregon. My best friend’s dad worked at the Rose Garden, so we would often get box seats to watch the Portland Trail Blazers play. It always felt so exciting and special being that close to the action.

One moment that really stands out is when I got to be part of a choreographed dance on the court during halftime with a group of girls. Being out there on the court, performing in front of a huge crowd despite being so shy, is something I’ll never forget. It pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way and is still a memory that makes me smile.
