Today we’d like to introduce you to Dante Chestnut Sr..
Hi Dante, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello, I started off as a Sous Chef after finishing Job Corp in Albany, Ga. Where I completed their Culinary Arts program. I began working at restaurants like Morrison’s Café at Perimeter Square Mall, Marriott Hotel and Houlihans in Lenox Square Mall. However, I was so adamant about following my dreams of becoming a record executive, I moved to College Park, GA. After meeting Guest Shot Records A&R Perry Guest the son of the Founder and the late Mr. William Guest original member of Glady’s Knight & The Pips at Club Beale Street, I began as an intern with Guest Shot Records (East Point) under the direction of company President Mrs. Cathy Irby Durant.
In my spare time, I began promoting shows, recording artists and events around the city and places like The Platinum House, Club Beale Street, The Roxy and The Catfish Station on Ponce De Leon. I had the pleasure of meeting a Rapper by the name of “Mike Gold” who introduced me to his Manager and Founder of Phat Boy Records / MCA / Warner Bros. Mr. Mason Hall, a songwriter and producer of the timeless classic sports anthem song “WE READY” performed by the late Archie Eversole, also worked with a lot of legends like Raheem The Dream, KILO, Bobby Brown, Birdman, and other super stars.
Following my dreams,
I started my own record label, consultant firm, fashion brand and music publishing company D.A.M.G. Ent. LLC also known as the Don Alesante’ Music Group, before becoming (General Manager) of of Music Powers I-Media based in (Atlanta) representing major & independent recording artists, record labels, A-List celebrities Grammy, AMA, Stellar award winners with sales over 300 Million records and counting.
The company was Lead by Grammy Award Winners super producers and engineers Alvin Speights, and Cirocco Jones Author of the award winning book “The Music Powers That Be To Succeed In the Music Industry”. Commuting from Atlanta, to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on business and family matters, I started the “Music Powers 101 Listen To My Demo” music program for aspiring recording artists, producers etc. in the (MPS) Milwaukee Public School System.
The Music Powers book sold worldwide and supported today by artists such as: Chris Brown, T.I., DJ Toomp, Floetry, Keyshia Cole, Harry Lyles, and countless other celebrities and industry executives.
Having a passion for cutting and styling hair and because of covid-19 plaguing the country and hindering movement in the music business, I went back to school at MATC, graduated with Honors and became a Licensed Barber and now operate a residential and commercial location under the business name “Donnie D. Stylez”
Always active in the music and entertainment industry as a consultant, radio personality, TV show host, author and actor in films “All About A Check 2” and “Let Me Be” series directed by Swift Motion Pictures and seen on TUBI.
Always eager to help new recording artists and producers dreams come true, I have recently created the new HOT TRACK CONTEST, where I give away Cash & prizes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No the road has not been smooth but in deed a learning experience, with the changes in the industry due to streaming, the loss of close friends, and loved ones, economic challenges as a whole in the world at this time, has inspired me even more to keep God first, stay consistent and focused.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am proud creator of Don Alesante’ Fashions, (CEO) of D.A.M.G. ENT. LLC., representing major & independent recording artists, record labels, A-List celebrities Grammy, AMA, Stellar award winners. I specialize in promotions, marketing, music distribution and publishing. I am also known for representing professionals in the business of music and having an elite repertoire of associates. Blessed to be in the “Who’s Who of Black Milwaukee” Publication. I am also known for starting the CHILL Program non-profit 501c3 foundation and D.A.N.T.E. (Doing Anything Necessary To Educate) to help the fight against illiteracy, and taking quality care of my clients as a Barber with precision and a touch of class.
I am most proud brand wise of my Don Alesante Fashion brand and firm as a whole, also completing my HSED program a second time around, after a technical era, forcing me to go back to school to enroll into college, and passing the Cosmetology program and passing the Barber license exam at the age of 50. Now I can give my client family the professional services they deserve, with a smile on my face in the process.
I want the readers to remember if it is something you want bad enough make time to see it through!
The only person that can stop you from accomplishing your goals is you! Also Excuses are made so satisfy yourself!
How do you think about happiness?
Having experienced what it was like to only have minutes to live because of a medical scare over 20 years ago. Waking up each day now makes me happy, because I know God gave me another chance at life to make today day better then yesterday, which allows me the opportunity to grow and hopefully be a blessing in someone else’s life with my talents, resources and God given gifts.
