Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayin Malik.
Hi Kayin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into Women’s Transformational Leadership Coaching is really an evolution of the work I’ve been doing for over 30 years. I spent three decades in corporate America, primarily in Human Resources and leadership roles, where I supported and developed talent across all levels of an organization. Over time, I became deeply passionate about helping people grow—but I felt especially called to support Black women and women of color navigating spaces that often were not designed with them in mind.
Throughout my corporate career, I witnessed firsthand the unique challenges that Black women and women of color face—being overlooked, underestimated, and carrying the weight of code-switching, perfectionism, and unspoken expectations. I saw so many brilliant, capable women dim their light just to belong or be accepted. That never sat right with me.
While I experienced success in corporate leadership, I began to feel a deeper calling—one that went beyond traditional leadership development. I wanted to create spaces where Black women and women of color could show up fully, unapologetically, and powerfully as themselves. That calling led me to expand my approach, blending my corporate expertise with transformational and holistic practices that focus on mindset, identity, energy, and alignment.
From there, my coaching business was born. Today, I support Black women and women of color in reconnecting with their truth, releasing limiting beliefs, and stepping into leadership in a way that honors who they are at their core—not who they’ve been told they need to be.
This work is both deeply personal and purposeful for me. It’s about creating a new narrative—one where we don’t just succeed within existing systems, but redefine leadership on our own terms and rise fully in our power.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road—and I think that’s true for anyone who chooses to step into purpose-driven work.
Transitioning from a structured, 30-year corporate career into entrepreneurship came with its own set of challenges. There were moments of uncertainty, having to redefine my identity outside of corporate titles, and learning how to build something from the ground up. That shift alone required a deep level of trust, resilience, and faith in the vision I was being called to pursue.
Beyond that, one of the more meaningful challenges has been carving out space for this work in a way that truly honors Black women and women of color. I’ve had to be very intentional about how I show up as a coach—ensuring that I’m not just bringing my professional expertise, but also leading with cultural awareness, humility, and deep listening. This work requires creating trust and safety, especially for women who have often felt unseen or unsupported in traditional leadership spaces.
There have also been the natural challenges of entrepreneurship—building visibility, establishing credibility in a new space, and staying aligned with my purpose even when the path isn’t always clear. But every challenge has strengthened my commitment to this work.
If anything, the road has refined me. It’s deepened my understanding of leadership, expanded my capacity to serve, and reinforced why this work matters so much. I don’t see the challenges as setbacks—I see them as part of the transformation, both for myself and for the women I’m called to support.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is centered on Women’s Transformational Leadership Coaching, with a specific focus on supporting Black women and women of color in reconnecting with their power, redefining leadership on their own terms, and creating lives and careers that feel fully aligned.
At its core, my work goes beyond traditional coaching. While I bring over 30 years of corporate leadership and Human Resources experience, what truly sets my approach apart is the integration of both strategic and transformational practices. I don’t just focus on external success—I guide my clients through deep inner work around mindset, identity, self-worth, and alignment. Because true leadership doesn’t start with a title—it starts from within.
I specialize in helping women break free from limiting beliefs, imposter syndrome, and the pressure to conform to environments that were never designed to support their full expression. Together, we focus on building clarity, confidence, and intentional action so they can lead authentically and unapologetically.
What sets me apart is my ability to bridge two worlds—the structure and insight of corporate leadership with a more holistic, intuitive approach to transformation. I create spaces where women feel seen, heard, and supported, while also being challenged to rise into their highest potential. My work is both grounded and expansive—it’s about real, sustainable transformation.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the intention behind everything I create. From my coaching experiences to my content, it’s all designed to feel empowering, affirming, and deeply aligned. This isn’t just about professional development—it’s about personal liberation and stepping fully into who you are.
I want readers to know that this work is for the woman who knows she’s meant for more—more impact, more alignment, more authenticity—but may be navigating how to get there. My role is to guide, support, and challenge her as she steps into that next level of her life and leadership.
What were you like growing up?
I like to say I’m still growing up—and honestly, I hope that never stops. There’s something important about staying curious, open, and connected to that sense of wonder.
Growing up, I was naturally very inquisitive. I’ve always been fascinated by how things work—whether that was nature, human behavior, systems, or even the cosmos. I was the kid asking questions, observing everything, and trying to make sense of the world around me.
I also loved being outside and using my imagination. I’d create these whole magical adventures in my mind—exploring, discovering, and just being fully present in those moments. That connection to imagination and possibility has stayed with me in a lot of ways.
I come from a family of readers, so books were a big part of my upbringing. I’ve always loved reading, and that hasn’t changed. Fantasy has been my favorite genre for as long as I can remember—there’s something about those worlds that really speaks to me.
And I’ll be honest—I was, and still am, an avid video gamer. That’s one of the ways my inner child stays very much alive. I still make time to play regularly, and I think it’s a reminder that joy, creativity, and play don’t have an expiration date.
Looking back, a lot of who I was growing up is still very much a part of who I am today—curious, imaginative, and always exploring. The only difference now is that I’ve learned how to channel those qualities more intentionally into my life and my work.
