Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody / Ryan Watson / Storms.
Hi Cody / Ryan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ryan and I are both nurses, and honestly, the whole thing started from the kind of humor you only really understand if you’ve worked in healthcare. We were talking at work about the chaos, the staffing issues, the weird patient interactions, and all the unhinged moments nurses deal with every day. Eventually we realized that nurses everywhere were having the exact same experiences, so we started turning those situations into short skits online.
At first it was just us filming videos for fun, but the response was immediate. Nurses, RTs, techs, doctors — everybody related to it. People kept saying, “This is literally my hospital,” which is kind of how our fictional hospital “Nostaff Regional” was born. It became a way to exaggerate the realities of healthcare while still keeping it funny and relatable.
What really helped us grow was staying authentic to the culture. We didn’t want to make generic healthcare content or forced influencer-style videos. We wanted it to feel like actual conversations and situations healthcare workers experience every shift. The humor can be dark or sarcastic at times, but it comes from a place of shared experience and burnout that a lot of people in healthcare immediately recognize.
Since then, the brand has grown a lot faster than we expected. We’ve built a large audience across social media, launched merch, started working with brands, and created a community around healthcare humor. But at the core of it, it’s still really just two nurses making content that we would’ve laughed at during a shift.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, it’s been smooth. It’s super busy with the merch launch, but it’s been smooth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an ICU charge nurse & Ryan is a Rapid Response nurse, so we both work in the critical care specialty.
We are both known for being able to critically think, & make decisions in high pressure situations. We both have leadership qualities that help our critical care team succeed in patient care.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The biggest advice we’d give is to start before you feel ready. A lot of people spend too much time overthinking content, branding, equipment, algorithms, or trying to make everything perfect before they ever post anything. We started by just making videos we thought were funny and relatable, and we’re still learning as we grow.
Consistency matters way more than perfection, especially in the beginning. Some of our best-performing videos were filmed quickly and weren’t overproduced at all. People connect more with authenticity than polished content that feels forced. It’s important to develop that authenticity and once you gain traction to stay within your niche.
