Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricko Clark.
Hi Ricko, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up with a deep love for music, creativity, and helping people. What started as passion eventually became purpose. Early on, I was recording and creating music anywhere I could, learning through trial, error, consistency, and long nights of figuring things out without formal training. Over time, that passion grew into Jazzi Musiq Productions and JMP Studios, where I now work as a recording and mix engineer, producer, and broadcast engineer.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. As a self-taught engineer and producer, a lot of my journey came through trial, error, long nights, and learning under pressure. Balancing family, leadership, business, ministry, and creativity hasn’t always been easy.
I’ve faced challenges with self-doubt, stress, burnout, and the pressure of constantly performing at a high level in live production and creative spaces. But every obstacle taught me resilience, adaptability, patience, and how to keep growing even during difficult seasons.
Those struggles helped shape both my character and my purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a recording and mix engineer, producer, and broadcast engineer with a passion for helping creatives bring their vision to life. I own and operate Jazzi Musiq Productions and JMP Studios, where I specialize in music production, live broadcast audio, recording, mixing, and creative development.
I’m most proud of building a career and brand through consistency, resilience, and authenticity while continuing to inspire and pour into others along the way.
What sets me apart is that I’m self-taught and people-focused. I don’t just focus on creating great sound, I focus on creating great experiences and helping people feel comfortable enough to give their best creatively. Along with engineering and production, I also mentor young adults and creatives through leadership, encouragement, and personal growth.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, a huge part of my learning came from “YouTube University.” Being self-taught pushed me to study constantly through YouTube tutorials, podcasts, production breakdowns, and real-world experience. I’ve spent years learning from engineers, producers, creators, and leadership voices online.
Apps and platforms like YouTube, Pro Tools communities, social media, and creative podcasts have all helped me sharpen my skills, stay inspired, and continue growing both professionally and personally.
