Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Bogale.
Hi Eden, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Eden Bogale, and I’m the owner of Hairstyles by Eden. My passion for beauty and hair started at a very young age growing up in Ethiopia. Even as a little girl, I always had a vision of being in the beauty industry, making women feel beautiful, confident, and cared for.
One of the biggest things that inspired me growing up was watching the women around me, especially my mother. I remember how important it was for her to always have her hair set, styled, and looking beautiful. The women I grew up around carried themselves with so much pride and confidence. Their hair was always perfectly curled, their outfits put together, and there was something so powerful and feminine about the way they presented themselves.
I grew up knowing what roller sets were long before I even knew what blow drying hair was. In our culture, healthy, styled hair and presentation meant something. It was a form of self care, confidence, and pride. Watching those women made a huge impact on me as a child, and I think that’s where the vision first started.
By middle school, I was already doing hair for neighborhood kids and people around me. I loved seeing how something as simple as doing someone’s hair could completely change the way they felt about themselves. For me, hair was never just about appearance it was creativity, culture, confidence, connection, and making people feel seen.
As I got older, that passion only grew stronger. What started as a childhood vision slowly turned into a career and eventually into my own business. Today, I’ve been doing hair professionally for over 15 years. I’ve built a loyal clientele, grown a strong social media community, and expanded into educating others through content creation.
My goal has always been to help women feel beautiful, confident, and empowered while also promoting healthy hair care and authentic beauty. Now I’m continuing to grow my brand beyond the salon through education, content creation, and product development while staying true to the passion and vision that started it all.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always going to be obstacles and challenges when building a business. One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was sacrificing time without really making money yet and still hoping clients would walk through the door. There were many days where I truly did not know what I was going to make, but I still had to show up, stay motivated, and believe in my vision.
When I first started, social media was not what it is today. I had to physically go out, pass out business cards and flyers, introduce myself to people, and put myself out there constantly. I made sure my hair always looked good because I understood that I was representing my work everywhere I went. A lot of the growth came from consistency, word of mouth, and showing people the quality of my work in real life.
I also started as an assistant, which taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of learning before leading. Looking back now, those seasons were both the most rewarding and the most challenging parts of my journey.
I believe one of the biggest lessons in entrepreneurship is understanding that sometimes you have to sacrifice time, comfort, and immediate money to build something bigger long term. You have to keep believing in yourself even when things feel uncertain and never lose your vision.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
For over 15 years, I have worked in the beauty industry specializing in healthy hair care, roller sets, silk presses, and creating styles that make women feel confident and beautiful. Outside of just styling hair, my biggest priority is making sure my clients’ hair stays healthy, strong, and properly cared for. I also love doing color, extensions, and exploring different creative styles while still focusing on maintaining healthy hair. Through Hairstyles By Eden, I’ve been able to build strong relationships with clients while also sharing my work and passion online through social media platforms and education.
My vision for Hairstyles By Eden is much bigger than just hairstyling. I want to continue growing it into a full beauty and healthy hair brand with products, education, and opportunities that reach people far beyond the salon chair. I want my work to inspire women to embrace healthy hair while also bringing back the passion, care, and professionalism that made me fall in love with this industry in the first place.
One of my biggest dreams is to eventually expand my work back home to Ethiopia. Being able to take what I’ve built, create opportunities, educate, inspire, and grow within the beauty industry there would mean everything to me. I want my brand to represent creativity, culture, beauty, confidence, and purpose while continuing to grow both nationally and internationally.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the beauty industry will continue to grow over the next 5 to 10 years, especially with social media and digital platforms making beauty more accessible than ever. At the same time, I think the industry has changed a lot. Years ago, hairstyling was deeply rooted in passion, care, and connection. Now, many people are very quick to jump to the next trend, the next viral moment, or what’s popular instead of truly following their passion and perfecting their craft.
I also feel that professionalism and genuine care for clients have slowly shifted in some areas of the industry. Clients now share stories about feeling rushed, being told to come with their hair already washed or detangled, or feeling like the experience is more transactional than personal. That’s something that makes me sad because beauty should make people feel cared for, confident, and valued.
I think the future belongs to stylists who combine talent with authenticity, professionalism, and real passion for what they do. Clients are looking for healthy hair, education, trust, and an experience that makes them feel beautiful inside and out not just trends.
