Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaniqua Barron.
Hi Shaniqua, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2022, I took a bold step to launch my own virtual assistant business. I didn’t jump in blindly. I did my research. I studied the virtual assistant industry, learned what business owners were genuinely struggling with, identified the gaps in support they needed, and made sure I understood how to bridge them. I wanted to be more intentional about this by not just starting a business, but starting the right business in the right way.
At the core of everything I do, I want to show that deep care for people. I know what it feels like to pour yourself into your work and still feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with some truly incredible people — realtors, business owners, authors, and professionals in the beauty industry. Each client has taught me something, and every industry I’ve stepped into has deepened my ability to serve with more understanding. I am truly grateful for the experiences.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. There was a challenge in those early days when I did everything. I put myself out there, did my research, and built my foundation, but clients still haven’t come in. The silence had made me question everything. But I had to learn that slow doesn’t mean stopped. It means you’re building something that lasts.
I’ll also be honest that I have taken breaks from my business. And for a long time, I had felt some guilt about that. Overall, the breaks gave me the space to come back clearer, more focused, and more committed than before. So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. But I wouldn’t trade this journey because the hard parts have made me the business owner I am today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
SB Assist LLC is a virtual assistant business. I built this business for every business owner who deserves support that actually feels like support.
We specialize in social media management, administrative support, and virtual assistant services. Basically, I come in and create more time for you so you can focus on the parts of your business.
What truly sets me apart is the heart I bring to this work. My background as a licensed social worker means I don’t just see tasks, I know the importance of working and collaborating with others.
I’ve had the privilege of working with realtors, business owners, authors, and professionals in the beauty industry. The one thing that stays consistent is my commitment to show up with trust, reliability, and care. When you hand me access to your business, I don’t take that lightly.
What I want readers to know most is this. SB Assist is a safe place to land. If you’re overwhelmed, stretched thin, and feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day, that’s exactly who I built this for. Come as you are. We’ll figure it out together.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I think the most surprising thing people might not know is that behind this business, the organized workflows, the content calendars, the client communications, is someone who has had to learn how to bet on herself over and over again.
And here’s something that can surprise people who have worked with me: I can be reserved and quieter in a larger group setting. It also can become harder for me to attend networking events, but I push myself to just do it. When I’m motivated and I believe in something, I know exactly how to show up, speak up, and get my business out there.
