Today we’d like to introduce you to Anton Rybakov.
Anton , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started through both passion and adversity. I’ve always been driven by creativity, entertainment, and connecting with people, which eventually led me to build Fun Characters Houston — a character entertainment company focused on creating unforgettable experiences for children and families across Houston through live performers, community events, schools, birthday parties, and family entertainment.
Before entrepreneurship and public speaking, I was deeply involved in the breaking (B-boy) community, where I learned discipline, creativity, resilience, and self-expression through dance and performance. That experience played a major role in shaping my mindset, confidence, and ability to connect with people through storytelling and live energy.
As the business grew, I realized my purpose was becoming bigger than entertainment alone. Life challenges, personal struggles, grief, and difficult experiences shaped my mindset in ways I never expected. After losing my brother, I began focusing more deeply on mental resilience, emotional strength, and the importance of conversations around mindset and personal growth.
That led me to create FD Mind — a platform, podcast, and speaking movement centered around transforming pain into power. Through speaking events, interviews, podcasts, and social media content, I aim to encourage people to keep moving forward during difficult seasons of life and remind them they are not alone in their struggles.
Through the FD Mind Podcast, I’ve had the opportunity to interview well-known entrepreneurs, speakers, and creators including David Meltzer, Ryan Stewman, Jerome Maldonado, B-Boy Moy, and many others. These conversations focus on mindset, resilience, entrepreneurship, overcoming adversity, and personal growth.
Today, I continue building both Fun Characters and FD Mind while growing as an entrepreneur, speaker, podcast host, and creator. My mission is to create impact through both entertainment and meaningful conversations that inspire resilience, confidence, and growth.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs and creators, I’ve faced financial pressure, uncertainty, self-doubt, setbacks, and the challenge of building something meaningful from the ground up. There were moments where balancing business, personal life, mental health, and responsibility became overwhelming.
One of the biggest challenges in my life was losing my brother. That experience changed me deeply and forced me to confront grief, emotional pain, and difficult questions about purpose, resilience, and mental strength. It also made me realize how many people silently struggle while trying to continue functioning every day.
Building businesses while dealing with personal loss and emotional pressure taught me that mindset is everything. There were times when I questioned myself, felt isolated, or wondered if I should slow down, but I continued pushing forward because I wanted to create something bigger than myself.
The entertainment industry and entrepreneurship also come with constant pressure to stay creative, motivated, and consistent while handling real-life struggles behind the scenes. Through those experiences, I learned the importance of discipline, resilience, emotional awareness, and continuing to move forward even when life becomes difficult.
Many of those obstacles ultimately became the foundation for FD Mind and my mission of helping others transform pain, adversity, and limitation into growth and strength.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fun Characters is a Houston-based entertainment company focused on creating memorable experiences for children, families, schools, businesses, and community events through live character performances, interactive games, themed entertainment, and event experiences.
What started as a creative entertainment business grew into something much bigger centered around connection, impact, and bringing positivity into people’s lives. Through Fun Characters, we’ve had the opportunity to serve families across Houston while building a brand known for energy, professionalism, creativity, and meaningful experiences.
Alongside Fun Characters, I also created FD Mind, a mindset and personal growth platform focused on resilience, mental strength, and turning adversity into power. FD Mind was inspired through personal experiences, loss, entrepreneurship, and the challenges that many people silently face every day.
Together, both brands represent entertainment, inspiration, and human connection. Whether it’s making a child smile at an event or helping someone through a difficult season mentally, the mission is ultimately the same: create impact.
Through my entrepreneurial and speaking journey, I’ve also interviewed well-known guests on the FD Mind Podcast including David Meltzer, Ryan Stewman, Jerome Maldonado, B-Boy Moy, and many others discussing mindset, business, resilience, and overcoming adversity.
One thing I’m most proud of is building brands that combine creativity with purpose. Fun Characters has also been featured in VoyageAustin Magazine as part of their Hidden Gems series highlighting local entrepreneurs and businesses making an impact in their communities.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned about mentorship and networking is that you cannot wait for opportunities to come to you. You have to put yourself out there consistently, start conversations, attend events, ask questions, and build genuine relationships.
A lot of people are afraid to reach out because they think they’re not ready yet, but growth happens through action and connection. Some of the best relationships, guests, and opportunities I’ve had came from simply being willing to introduce myself, stay consistent, and continue showing up.
I also believe mentors can come in many forms. Sometimes it’s a direct mentor, sometimes it’s learning through conversations, podcasts, books, experiences, or simply observing people who are operating at a higher level.
For me, networking worked best when I focused on creating real value, being authentic, and staying persistent. Relationships built on sincerity and consistency tend to last much longer than relationships built only around business.
