Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabitha Goode.
Hi Tabitha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography originally started as a creative outlet during a difficult season of life and slowly grew into something I truly fell in love with. What began with photographing my own children and learning my camera during golden hour eventually turned into a business built around storytelling, connection, and preserving meaningful moments for others.
Building Weathered Willow Imagery from the ground up has been a journey filled with growth, creativity, long nights, and a lot of learning along the way. Over time, it evolved into something far bigger than I ever imagined and became such an important part of my life.
My style is heavily inspired by emotion, nostalgia, golden light, and the beauty found in real, in-between moments. I love creating images that feel genuine and tell a story rather than just documenting a moment. Whether I’m photographing families, motherhood, couples, or seasonal sessions across North Georgia, my goal is always to create photographs that people can feel when they look back on them years later.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many incredible families, contribute photography for local publications, and build a brand that reflects both creativity and heart. Seeing people trust me to capture such important seasons of their lives is something I never take for granted.
At the end of the day, Weathered Willow Imagery is rooted in connection, storytelling, and creating lasting memories — and I feel incredibly grateful for how much it has grown through the support of this community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. Like most creative businesses, there have been a lot of highs mixed with plenty of challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles was learning to believe in myself and my work in an industry that can feel incredibly oversaturated and comparison-driven at times. It’s easy to look around and question whether there’s room for your voice, your art, or your style.
Balancing business ownership alongside family life and another career has also been challenging. There were many late nights spent editing after my kids went to bed, early mornings, and seasons where burnout felt very real. Building a business from the ground up requires wearing so many hats beyond just taking photos — marketing, scheduling, client communication, bookkeeping, social media, website management, and constantly continuing to learn and grow creatively.
I’ve also had to learn that growth doesn’t always happen overnight. There were seasons where bookings were slow, social media engagement was discouraging, or I questioned whether I was good enough to keep going. But honestly, those seasons shaped me the most. They taught me resilience, consistency, and the importance of creating work that stays true to who I am rather than constantly chasing trends.
Looking back now, I think the struggles are what helped shape Weathered Willow Imagery into what it is today. They pushed me to grow not only as a photographer, but as a person and business owner too.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a lifestyle and portrait photographer specializing in families, motherhood, maternity, couples, and seasonal sessions throughout North Georgia. My work is very storytelling-driven and focused on genuine connection rather than perfectly posed moments. I’m drawn to emotion, movement, golden light, and the little in-between moments that often end up meaning the most years later.
I think what I’m most known for is creating imagery that feels bold, warm, nostalgic, and full of life while also creating an experience where people feel comfortable and truly seen. A lot of my clients come to me saying they’re nervous in front of the camera, and one of my favorite compliments is hearing that their session felt relaxed and natural instead of stressful or overly posed.
One thing that sets Weathered Willow Imagery apart is the experience I try to create from start to finish. I offer styling guidance and access to a curated client closet for many sessions, which helps take some of the stress off my clients and allows everything to feel cohesive and intentional. I want sessions to feel less like a photoshoot and more like a meaningful memory with the people you love most.
I’m most proud of the community and trust that has been built around my business over the years. So much of my growth has come through returning clients, word of mouth, and families inviting me back to document multiple seasons of their lives. Knowing people continue to trust me with their memories year after year is something I never take lightly and probably means more to me than anything else.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Honestly, one of the biggest resources for me has been the relationships and friendships I’ve built with other photographers along the way. Running a creative business can feel isolating at times, so having people in the industry that I can bounce ideas off of, ask questions, celebrate wins with, or lean on during harder seasons has been incredibly valuable.
I think there’s this misconception that photography is always competitive, but I’ve found so much encouragement and support through genuine community. Some of the best growth has come simply from connecting with other creatives who understand the challenges, the creativity, and the passion behind this work.
