Today we’d like to introduce you to Truey.
Hi Truey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Truey, and I’m an artist coming out of Atlanta, Georgia. Music started as something personal for me before it ever became serious. I’ve always been around music, but I really started taking rapping seriously when I realized it was a way for me to express everything I was seeing, feeling, and going through in life. Atlanta has such a strong music culture, so growing up around that energy pushed me creatively.
At first, I was just recording, learning sounds, experimenting, and building confidence in myself as an artist. Over time I started networking, meeting producers, engineers, photographers, and other creatives who helped me grow. Being in studios, connecting with people in the city, and staying consistent helped shape who I am today. I’ve released records like “CEO” and continued building my own sound that blends real-life experiences with melodic rap and trap influences.
What got me to where I am today is consistency, believing in myself even when things moved slow, and staying true to my vision. Every release, every studio session, and every connection taught me something. I also ran into Atlanta DJ PLUGG and T-Hood they helped a lot with my growth
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
lol i didn’t know the difference between a hook and a bar at first
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges is staying motivated when you’re building everything from the ground up. A lot of people only see the finished product, but they don’t see the long nights, the self-doubt, the financial struggles, or the pressure of trying to balance life while chasing a dream.
Another challenge is standing out in a city like Atlanta where there’s so much talent. You really have to find your own identity and stay patient. There were times where I questioned if people were really hearing me or understanding my vision, but I kept going.
I’ve also learned that not every opportunity or every person is meant for your journey. Some situations teach you who’s really supporting you and who isn’t. Those experiences helped me grow not only as an artist, but as a person.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist, but I also see myself as a creative overall. I specialize in melodic rap, storytelling, and creating music that people can actually feel. My sound has influences from trap music, emotional storytelling, and real experiences, but I always try to make records that are authentic to me.
I’m most proud of staying independent and continuing to build my name while developing my craft. Every song represents growth for me. I’m also proud that people can hear honesty in my music instead of something forced.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend emotion with confidence. I can make records that motivate people while still talking about real struggles and real life. I’m not trying to sound like everybody else — I want people to hear a Truey record and immediately know it’s me.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is to stay consistent and believe in yourself before anybody else does. A lot of people quit too early because they expect overnight success. Growth takes time.
I also wish I knew earlier how important networking and relationships are. Talent matters, but building genuine relationships with the right people can open doors too. Stay humble, keep learning, and keep improving your craft.
Most importantly, don’t lose your authenticity trying to follow trends. The artists who last are usually the ones who stay true to who they are.
