Today we’d like to introduce you to DEBOE VIBES.
Hi DEBOE, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I’ve always loved food. I’m a big-time foodie. I’m a firm believer that food brings people together. Food is great for the spirit, the heart, and a soul. However I’m even more in love with my community. I’ve been in Clayton County, Georgia for over 20 years. Clayton county is where it all started for me in Atlanta over 25 years ago. So I wanted to combine my two loves to one great tapestry. I wanted to combine my love for my community with my love for my food. I want to illustrate and highlight all the great things going on in Clayton County, Ga. So far so good! I’m also community activist as far as doing the best for my community and showing the world that my community is one of the best not just in Metro Atlanta, but the best in the region!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Great question! But by no means has the road been an easy one. 10 years ago I went through homelessness and a very difficult divorce. There were times where I was going to give up however, my faith got me through the trials and tribulations of difficult times. With that said, the most difficult time happened over three years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer. That was the roughest point in my life. I was scared. I was afraid. However, once again, my faith got me through it, and a cancer is currently in remission. To this point, any difficulty challenge or adversity is simply a way for me to learn about myself and to overcome it the best way I can. The best way I do that is my faith in God.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
From a professional standpoint, I’ve been in the Customer Service field and customer relations field for well over 30 years. The great thing about communicating with somebody no matter what the situation is, is that you get to learn about yourself and you also get to learn about a situation that somebody is going through. Through my life, I’ve always been a sponge to understand what somebody’s going through. Customer Service allows me to listen to an individuals thoughts, concerns, and overall mindset. It allows me to think about what a person is going through. And again, I’m a professional at that however I took that profession and brought it into my personal life by also communicating with people who I talk to on a regular basis in reference to reaching out to individuals and talking to them, particularly about their businesses and their endeavors… and their food!
What do you like and dislike about the city?
The best thing I love about Atlanta is the cultural aspect and the history that our city represents. That’s the main thing that drew me to the city. We all know the history about what Atlanta did for the civil rights movement as well as the progression of the country many decades ago. However, the great thing about this city is that there are landmarks and other important aspects that are untouched. As far as the history is concerned, Atlanta represents many significant events on many avenues. The most memorable being the 1996 Olympic Games. You can be in any vibrant business district or community and with just a right turn here or a few exits down there, you see an Atlanta that is untouched. An Atlanta that is deeply ingrained into our country’s history. The least thing I like about our city is the burgeoning growth. I MISS OLD ATLANTA!! However, growth is undefeated. But no matter how big our city gets, Atlanta still has the nooks and crannies that maintains it’s southern charm.
