Rising Stars: Meet One Swayze of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to One Swayze.

Hi One, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m One Swayze artist from Atlanta, Ga. I Grew up on the east side of Atlanta in Lithonia, Ga. I grew up with both my parents In my life, listening to lil Wayne, T.I., OutKast & Goodie Mob along with the r&b melodies of Mary J Blidge, Escape, SWV, Fantasia, Whitney Houston and the list goes on along with Gospel. My beginning of music started at a young age, I would always hear the songs in the radio listening to Greg Street, Ramona Debroh, & Ryan Cameron. I would always be able to recite the words or what I thought the words were at the time to the rhythm after just hearing 1 or 2 times. My grandma would also say “ I hope you know your grades as well as you know those songs”. In middle school I would freestyle on the bus but never really realizing it was something I enjoyed, really just did it to have fun most of the time. I didn’t start taking music until me and my friends in highschool started a group called HOD (Hate Our Demonstration) which did not last long after a few songs and adding some people to the group which eventually disintegrated into each of us doing our own thing. After the group split I would still go over the Twins Moms House To Learn how to record myself and create songs over instrumentals to get better at this point I started to love making music and putting the songs out for our friends to here at the time. Eventually I bought my own equipment and teamed up with YL Lee and J Green where we connected to make my early solo projects like “ Focus” which was one of my first ever solo albums dropped around 2014/15 maybe. I also would drop a series of instrumental tapes starting with the “No Picks” series that caught the attention of a lot of major artist at the time like Wiz Khalifa, Lil B, Larry June, & Scotty ATL. Ever since then I’ve been putting out many projects and singles each an every year consistently building my catalog along with my label Successful Life Recordings while incorporating our own merchandise also under Successful Life Regardless Clothing. While later becoming a assistant manager for Scotty ATL learning the business and understanding how to navigate while networking helped me see the music business and allow myself to navigate an locate my sound and create my own wave of music. As I continue my journey in music and fashion, I take all my life experiences, growth, challenges, and achievements as the motivation that go behind my lyrics and songs. As displayed on my latest album release “The Meltdown” released on April 25th on all platforms gives you more insight of me passing stages in my life and people along the way while meeting new ones on the way but also taking my matters into my own hands and crafting everything from the beats to the mastering. This tape was me in full engagement from the intros to the interludes to the final song “10k Hours” which is a connotation formally used in our industry but when you only get into you truly see there is more than 10k hours put in to win but seeing that and knowing I’m okay with that because I know the end goal is obtainable so we keep climbing the ladder, taking the steps in knowing One Swayze is a name to be remembered but my legacy continues to live on through my music for centuries to spark more minds that they can do anything that they place there minds too no matter what anyone says or anything that happens. Keep going lock in and your dream is closer than you see.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never an easy road when your goal is to be the greatest or great in some facet. It’s never been easy for me. Starting all the way back to recreation basketball to being over looked for the all star team numerous amounts of times even after winning a championship for my team. Battling alopecia growing up being picked on and laughed at by your peers was challenging. To even being talked about, counted out, and not even being treated like family by family. I’ve had people say things to get close steal the sauce and run away with it but when you a leader that comes with the territory. It’s never unfamiliar how familiar we are to these circumstances but we still find the courage and endurance to run our race of overcoming it. I’ve had bad business deals for example I bought a beat from someone who wasn’t even the original owner of the beat lol we laugh at it now but those where things you go through to learn the business. I’ve also been In situations where your only around to make others look like there more important than they are. When really your the one who they need to know and find out more about.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent artist and creative who blends music, storytelling, and visual design into one full experience. Under the name One Swayze, I create music with a laid-back but confident energy, mixing real-life ambition, consistency, and culture into my sound. I specialize in hip-hop/trap-inspired music, creative branding, cover art concepts, and animated visuals that help turn songs into worlds people can actually see and feel.

A lot of my work stands out because I don’t just focus on making songs. I focus on building complete experiences around them. Whether it’s a mixtape cover, a character design, an NBA 2K-style player card, or animated visuals for social media, I like creating projects that feel cinematic and memorable. Projects like Triple Threat and Meltdown are examples of how I combine music, branding, sports culture, gaming aesthetics, and animation into one identity.

What I’m most proud of is my consistency and ability to keep evolving creatively. I’ve continued building my sound and visual style while staying independent and hands-on with my ideas. I take pride in turning concepts into reality from the ground up, even when starting with just a rough vision in my head.

What sets me apart is my creativity across multiple lanes. I’m not only focused on being an artist musically, but also on creating recognizable visuals and concepts that connect with people instantly. My work has personality, energy, and originality. I like making things that feel fun, bold, and larger than life while still being authentic to who I am as an artist.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on my journey is that consistency matters more than waiting for the perfect moment. Early on, I used to focus too much on getting everything exactly right before putting my work out, but over time I realized growth comes from creating, learning, and continuing to evolve. Every project, song, visual, or idea teaches you something new.

I’ve also learned that being an artist is bigger than just talent. It takes discipline, patience, confidence, and the ability to keep going even when results don’t happen overnight. Staying true to my own style and vision has been important too, because the things that make you different are usually the things people remember most.

Another major lesson has been understanding the value of building an experience, not just content. People connect with authenticity, creativity, and storytelling. That’s why I put energy into the visuals, concepts, and branding behind my music, because I want people to feel connected to the world I’m creating, not just hear a song and move on.
