Rising Stars: Meet KILLUMANTII of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to KILLUMANTII.

Hi KILLUMANTII, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off with very humble beginnings. I’ve always wanted to make music since I was in high school so I started rapping , freestyling, in my room with just my iphone. I would upload the videos to Instagram for my friends. In 2017 I got lucky and went viral. I ended up signing a major label deal that next year. I was signed to Atlantic Records until 2024. I left to claim my independence as an artist and to also move on with my life. Now I’m a student that makes music sparingly on my own time for the fans that are still here. The goal is to become a neuroscientist. Along the way my fans and i have made much success independently! We’ve charted on TikTok, which led to us climbing up the ladder to major global musical charts as well. We placed number three in Italy, number four in the Bahamas and a few more top 10 chart placements worldwide, including the USA top 100 at 74. Today I just make music like I said in between time in my home . We have a mixing engineer on our team named JKAYYY who helps bring our music to life, and of course, the fans are always there to magnify everything that I create. I also collaborate with a producer named Dub Magic! He’s also an essential part of the team! He’s very talented as well.!

Also, my mom is one of my biggest source of inspirations for my raps. A lot of her lifestyle is used as the muse for the lyrics I create. Any Situations she may have went through or stories that she tells me me play a big role in the punchlines and metaphors that I create.

Also, one of my major songs “rules” is 100,000 or less sales away from going gold . so that would be something my fans and I plan on celebrating as well. It was the first song that ever blew up for us back in 2017 and now we are just waiting for the RIAA update. that’s our full story from beginning to end and even a future update on us.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
the only obstacle were lack of resources at one point in time, but thanks to everyone that believed in me and listened to my records I was able to have an at home studio set up so that I can create music for my fans and I whenever the time allowed me to. also making the music come to life was a hard part for me as well due to me just being an artist ,that’s now Independent, I didn’t have the help that I used to, but luckily the fans and I ran into a mixing engineer who believed in our vision and now everything sounds perfect. His name is JKAYYY from JKAYYY Sounds.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a recording artist from Atlanta Georgia.

I specialize in telling stories whether it’s my mom‘s life that gives me inspiration or my own life in general.

I am known for making freestyles in my room in 2017 that went viral and now I am a professional musician. It kind of inspired a lot of people that even though you don’t have many resources the story you tell will be your greatest asset.

I am mostly proud of my consistency. I feel like sometimes I’m not given the same acknowledgment as my peers but I understand that it’s all about the people that do show up and I haven’t lost sight of that. Whether my songs get millions of streams or not, I still show up.

I feel like nothing really sets me apart from everyone else. We’re all people at the end of the day. I think I just got lucky that a few million people believe in me and that’s what makes me different. I have them.

What were you like growing up?
being famous as at young age made me grow up a little differently than everyone else. I was lucky enough like I said to sign a major label deal at 18 and have a massive following of 1,000,000+ people before then so I had to learn responsibility quickly. I had to understand that I represent for a lot of people. So I had to be careful what I engage with or do more research on things that I show people because a lot of people look at my opinion as law, and it taught me to consider and do more research for other people that may not have the opportunity to
