Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Gray.
Hi Lisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from a family of hair stylists, self employed and independent personalities, . but I chose to enter the corporate arena and later realized that I also had the same need for flexibility and independence. I had a natural ability for styling hair and cosmetology was the most natural option. I started school, once I completed and received my license, I took a financial risk and quit my job, then started my journey in the hair ndustry. Four years later I opened my own salon Hair Ndustry Salon Studio in Tucker, GA, 9 yrs later I moved to Lilburn, where I have remained going on 10 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth ride. I struggled financially in the beginning trying to navigate this new industry. Clashed with salon owners’ strong personalities, instability, going from salon to salon trying to find a fit. I decided that the struggle was my need for my own space; and once I became independent, things just fell in place.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a salon owner/hair stylist. I specialize in precision cuts, short pixie cuts and extensions. I am most proud of my journey to becoming a business owner and the consistency in providing exceptional customer service and how rewarding it is to read my reviews validating my sense of importance in putting my clients needs first.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that everything continuously changes and evolves and you have to be aware of that and navigate those changes. Also being cognizant about all of the other elements beyond physically doing hair that are important in becoming a successful stylist. Good customer service skills are essential.
