Community Highlights: Meet Brittany Windsor of Summer Place Reps LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Windsor.

Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I graduated from Vanderbilt University and was recruited to join Deloitte Consulting as a Business Analyst in Atlanta. After consulting for companies all over the country for three years, Deloitte sponsored me to earn my MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. I completed my MBA and returned to Deloitte as a Consultant, and I was promoted to Manager in only a year. During this time, I had gotten married and later became pregnant with my oldest child. While on an extended maternity leave from Deloitte, I had a childhood friend call me with an opportunity. She asked if I would be interested in selling high end children’s clothing in Atlanta. My only sales experience was working at a children’s boutique in Dallas, TX during high school. When I was quite young, I told my parents that I wanted to be a fashion designer, and my childhood dream was to have my own boutique one day. Needless to say, I said YES to the sales rep opportunity while I took some time to figure out my next steps professionally. I knew that I wanted a career, but I did not want to return to traveling 4 days a week for work. I started road repping 2 days a week for a woman named Lisa Summers, and then I bought Summer Place Reps after a year. What started as a very small road rep operation turned into a multi-line 2000 square foot showroom at AmericasMart in downtown Atlanta! Over the past 20+ years, Summer Place has doubled our showroom space from 1000 to 2000 square feet, created a robust online buying portal for our customers during Covid, completed a massive renovation, and won several awards, including Best Children’s Showroom by Earnshaw’s Magazine. We have represented anywhere from 30-45 lines at a time servicing thousands of customers across the country and even internationally. I am now instrumental in assisting with the design, manufacturing, and distribution of an exclusive line we represent in Atlanta, and my childhood dream has come true! What started as a “mom job,” where I visited stores around Atlanta with 4 or 5 lines in my car, turned into a business doing about $7M in sales per year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. The financial crisis in 2008 was rough, but it did not really affect wholesale trade until 2009. Sales became a bit sluggish until our country recovered. The Covid shutdown in 2020 was extremely difficult. It was important to pivot and position ourselves to reach our customers in new ways because stores and market centers were closed. I had been building an online shopping portal right before Covid hit, so this was the perfect time to push this into the marketplace. It was also the perfect time to start doing virtual appointments with our customers. Our vendors pivoted also, and we became the “go to” for fashionable face masks. What a perfect use for scrap materials! What started as a devastating hit to wholesale and retail ended up being a record year for sales upon reopening! The last big hurdle has been the tariff situation in 2025-2026 given that many of our lines are made overseas. Prices skyrocketed, and many lines restricted their inventory because of the uncertainty of tariff percentages. We are still working through this one, but I am hopeful that relief is coming!

Summer Place Reps sells over 30 high-end baby and children’s lines at AmericasMart. We are a one stop shop for apparel, gifts, & accessories in the wholesale marketplace. We carry the best collection of products for mommy, baby, and child and are always adding the latest and greatest lines in the industry. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service with a dedicated team of sales reps who have been part of the company for 10+ years. We use ipads and Bluetooth scanners to make the buying process as efficient as possible. We support our in person sales with a robust website, wholesale shopping portal, and access to sales reps for virtual appointments, phone calls, emails, and texts.

The brand we represent exclusively at Summer Place is called Terry Tots. www.terrytots.com. I love helping new lines start out, and I have enjoyed consulting on what products are most needed in the industry and how best to supply those to our customers. Terry Tots is a perfect example of that!

What matters most to you?
Coming from a consulting background, I really want to help people succeed. While many sales reps just go for the big sale, I honestly want to assist my customers in putting together the best assortments for their stores so they are return customers who sell the products well and trust us to guide them in their buying process now and for years to come.
