Life & Work with Chantau Chambers of Other

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantau Chambers.

Hi Chantau, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ever since I was younger, I’ve always known I wanted to build something of my own. I think that ambition really took root from watching my father, who owned and operated a small grocery store in Kingston, Jamaica. I spent a lot of time there, after school, on weekends, even holidays just observing how he ran things. Being in that environment at such a young age shaped the way I see business and planted the seed for my own entrepreneurial journey.

At the same time, I was always creative. I loved arts and crafts, writing poetry, even short stories anything that allowed me to express myself. For a long time, my dream was actually to start my own hair product line. That idea came to me in high school and, honestly, it’s still a goal I hold onto today.

What’s interesting is that even before that business ever existed, I had already started designing for it. I downloaded Canva and began creating logos, promotional flyers basically building a brand for something that hadn’t launched yet. I wasn’t doing it for money at the time; I was just genuinely excited by the idea. Looking back, that’s really where my love for design began.

It wasn’t until I got to university where I’m currently pursuing my BSc in Business Administration that everything started to connect. I realized not only how much I loved business, but also that I could turn my passion for graphic design into something profitable while helping other brands grow.

From that point, I got serious. I spent countless hours practicing, refining my skills, and building my confidence until I felt ready. Then on June 1, 2025, I officially launched my graphic design business. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with over 20 businesses, helping them elevate their brands and create visuals that feel premium and, more importantly, convert.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. While I genuinely enjoy what I do, the journey has come with its learning curves. In the early stages, I encountered situations where project direction wasn’t always clearly defined, which sometimes led to multiple revisions and a lot of back and forth.

However, those experiences taught me the importance of clarity, structure, and communication. I’ve since developed a more guided approach when working with clients helping them refine their vision from the start so the process feels seamless and efficient for both of us.

Also, like many creatives, I’ve had moments of self-doubt, especially in the early stages of my journey. It’s easy to look at designers who have been in the industry for years and feel like you need to measure up instantly. But over time, I’ve learned to shift that mindset.

I’ve come to understand that experience takes time, and every designer’s journey is different. Instead of comparing myself, I focus on growth refining my skills, pushing my creativity, and becoming better with every project I take on.

For me, it’s not about competing with others, but about continuously evolving and outdoing my previous work. That perspective has helped me stay grounded, confident in my abilities, and committed to delivering quality design for every client I work with.

I am also a christian and include God in everything that I do. I pray over my work and over my journey and over my clients and with that I have faith that I will do my best.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a graphic designer based in Kingston, Jamaica, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with both local and international clients. My work focuses on branding everything from logos and social media content to business cards, thank-you cards, and product label design etc. At the core of it all, what I’m most proud of is my journey and the role I get to play in helping businesses bring their vision to life through strong, intentional visuals.

One project that stands out to me is a client who approached me with the idea of starting her own haircare and skincare line. I handled her full branding from logo design to product labels for her soaps and hair oils, along with business cards, thank-you cards, and social media content. Since launching, she’s shared that she consistently receives compliments on her branding and overall presentation. That, to me, is the power of cohesive design it not only makes a brand look good, but it helps it stand out and be remembered.

Moments like those are incredibly fulfilling. Hearing that a client’s printed materials are getting attention, or seeing their excitement when their designs come to life, is a reminder of why I do what I do. It aligns perfectly with my motto, “Vision into Visuals.” There’s something special about watching a business owner gain renewed confidence and excitement simply because their brand finally reflects the quality and passion behind it.

What sets me apart is my drive and my passion for transformation. For me, it goes beyond just creating designs it’s about building brands with intention. I approach each project with both a creative and business mindset, ensuring that the visuals don’t just look good, but also serve a purpose: to attract, connect, and convert. My goal is to help position brands so they can stand out in their industry and grow into powerhouses in their own right.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Surprisingly, when I started, I received a lot of genuine support from other graphic designers in my country. They engaged with my work liking, commenting, and resharing without me even asking, and I made it a point to show that same support in return. I’m truly grateful because I’ve been able to connect with people within my field who are open to sharing tips, offering advice, and even creating spaces where we can learn from each other. Some of us have built a small community where we exchange ideas and give feedback, and that sense of collaboration has played a huge role in building my confidence and helping me find my place in the industry.

My advice would be to never be afraid to reach out to others in your field. There’s often this assumption that people won’t be willing to help, but that hasn’t been my experience. Many creatives are open to sharing knowledge and supporting others on their journey you just have to take that first step.
