Community Highlights: Meet Maya & Mila of NYE Photobooth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya & Mila.

Hi Maya & Mila, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Our journey started when we moved to Atlanta from Minneapolis in 2008. We started working in PR in entertainment industry for red carpet events. Shortly after we relocated, we were impacted by the 2008 recession and had to pivot into the corporate space. Mila spent 14 years in the mortgage industry while Maya ended up in the insurance industry for 13 years. During this period, we also hosted at film festivals and briefly got into acting. In July 2025, we served on the planning committee for our family’s 56th annual reunion. Working together to help create such a special event reminded us how much we enjoyed the event space. We knew we wanted to be part of helping people celebrate life’s most important moments, but we didn’t necessarily want to become event planners.

That experience inspired us to explore other ways to make events more memorable. After months of research and guidance from our mentor, we officially launched our photo booth business, NYE Photobooth. Incorporating our birthday (New Year’s Eve) in our business name was only right!

Today, we combine our professional backgrounds, entrepreneurial spirit, and shared creativity to provide interactive experiences that help clients create lasting memories. What started as a conversation between sisters has grown into a business we are passionate about building together.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Maya- For me I decided to leave my corporate job back in January to go in all with our business. It wasn’t an easy decision, and took a lot of adjusting to my new normal. Also, being in a brand new industry has had its challenges. We have had to become more tech savvy with learning cameras, softwares, business strategies, you name it. But I love a challenge and its been really rewarding to see the fruits of our labor.

Mila- I agree, learning a new industry has been challenging, but also fun! We go to a lot of networking events and we love meeting and connecting with industry professionals in person. We both worked remotely for many years, so that has been really cool. Also, it has been difficult starting a business from scratch with small children. I have a 1 & 2 year old and Maya has a 8 and 3 year old with demanding schedules. When we aren’t working an event, our kids are with us, so it can be tough trying to be productive, testing equipment etc, with our kids by our side.

We’ve been impressed with NYE Photobooth, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Maya- NYE Photobooth is a luxury photo booth experience. We specialize in creating interactive, high-end experiences for corporate events, brand activations, weddings, & social celebrations. Our goal is always to create more than just photos, we create memorable moments and keepsakes guests can take home and remember long after the event is over.

Some of our most popular services include our Glam Booth experience, instant prints, digital sharing, branded activations, AI watercolor portraits, keepsake stations, and professional headshot experiences for corporate events. We really pride ourselves on offering modern, elevated experiences that feel both fun and polished.

What makes our brand special is the attention to detail and the experience we create for guests. From custom-branded templates to the lighting, setup, and guest interaction, we want every event to feel intentional and premium. We love helping clients bring their vision to life while also giving guests something interactive and memorable to enjoy.

Mila- Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how much NYE Photobooth has evolved and how recognizable our experiences have become. We’ve worked hard to position ourselves as more than “just a photo booth company.” We focus heavily on the guest experience, branding, professionalism, and creating activations that truly add value to events.

I want the people to know that NYE Photobooth is all about creating experiences that bring people together. Whether it’s a corporate luncheon, wedding, networking event, or social celebration, we love helping people capture moments, connect, and have fun in a meaningful way.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Maya- Being able to work together. We’re twins but we’re also best friends. We genuinely have a great time when we’re working.
Mila- Having a business that allows us the flexibility to spend time with our kids and families is something we love and don’t take for granted.
