Exploring Life & Business with Angel Long of Chilled Peach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Long.

Hi Angel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before Chilled Peach was a business, it was a Mother’s Day gift. Mother’s Day weekend 2021, I made my mom chocolate-covered strawberry roses and my grandmother’s banana pudding her signature recipe that’s been in our family for years. I made a full pan the way my grandmother always did, and we quickly realized it was way more than the two of us could eat.
I jokingly said I should just go sell the rest. My mom told me to do it.

So I did. And people loved it. Orders started coming in from that very first day what was only supposed to last one afternoon kept going. People wanted more, and I kept showing up.
The brand was originally named after my grandmother because she’s where it all started. But as the vision grew, I wanted a name that felt bigger. More universal. Something that could hold everything I saw Chilled Peach becoming.
Chilled Peach made perfect sense. We’re rooted in Atlanta, Georgia the Peach State. The name connects our family roots to our city, and it nods to where we’re going too. One day, when ice cream joins the menu, the name will say everything.
That moment taught me something I carry into everything I do: sometimes your greatest business idea is already sitting in your kitchen, rooted in your family, just waiting for someone to dare you to share it. My grandmother’s recipe started this. My mother’s encouragement launched it. And the community my Peach Fam has been sustaining it ever since.
I’ve been building Chilled Peach from that Mother’s Day weekend forward, one small batch at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Not even close and I think that’s what makes the story real.
Building Chilled Peach while also trying to stabilize my own life has been the biggest balancing act. I’m doing this without a co-founder, without outside funding, and without a storefront (just me, a commercial kitchen, and a vision) that’s bigger than my current resources. Some weeks the revenue was inconsistent, and I had to get honest with myself about why. Was I actually reaching my customers directly, or was I just posting on Instagram and hoping for the best? That was a hard truth to sit with.
There were seasons where I questioned everything. Trying to figure out the right menu, the right pricing, the right sales channels all while managing kitchen time, packaging, marketing, and delivery mostly alone. I was wearing every hat and some days none of them fit right.
But one of the things that hurt the most was being overlooked in the very communities I grew up in and love deeply. Applying to markets and events in my own neighborhoods, places I have real roots in and not being chosen. That’s a specific kind of sting. You’re not just being turned away from a business opportunity, you’re being turned away from home. It made me question whether there was really a seat at the table for someone like me in spaces I always believed were for people like me.
I also had to learn the business side in real time. Taxes, LLCs, P&Ls, contracts—none of that was handed to me. I figured it out as I went, and I’m still figuring it out.
But every market I’ve vended, every order that came in, every customer who came back, that’s what kept me building. Chilled Peach has never been just a business to me. It’s a promise I made to my family’s legacy and to my community. And that’s not something I’m willing to give up on.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Chilled Peach?
Chilled Peach is a small batch dessert brand based in Atlanta, Georgia. We specialize in handcrafted Southern-inspired sweets like creamy cheesecakes, fudgy brownies, classic cookies, and our signature banana pudding that started it all. Everything is artisan made, by hand, in small batches, with intention. No shortcuts, no mass production. Just real ingredients and real love in every order.
We’re known for our banana pudding, both the Classic Old School and our No Banana Banana Pudding, which has become a fan favorite for people who love the flavor but not the fruit. But what really sets us apart isn’t just the product. It’s the experience and the community behind it. Our customers aren’t just customers, they’re Peach Fam. And that relationship is something we protect and pour into.
What makes Chilled Peach different is that this brand was never built to be generic. Every product is artisan made, crafted by hand, in small batches, with real ingredients and zero shortcuts. Every flavor, every color, every detail of how we show up from our packaging to our presence at the farmers market is intentional. We’re a Black woman owned business rooted in family tradition, Atlanta pride, and a genuine love for the people we serve. You can taste the difference when something is artisan made with purpose.
Brand wise, I’m most proud of the identity we’ve built. The Chilled Peach aesthetic, our warm corals, peachy tones, and bold energy, feels like us. It feels like Atlanta. It feels like something you want to be a part of. And we built that from nothing, on a real budget, with real creativity.
And we’re just getting started. Ice cream, a café, multiple locations — the long game is in motion. But right now, you can find us at the Decatur Farmers Market and Oakhurst Farmers Market, and place orders through our Instagram @chilledpeachga or website chilledpeach.com.
What I want readers to know most is this: Chilled Peach is proof that something built from love, in your own kitchen, for your own family, can grow into something that feeds a whole community. That’s what we’re doing. One small batch at a time.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me has never been just about numbers. I define success based on how many people you’ve influenced and how many hearts you’ve touched in a good way. That’s the real measure.
And when I look at Chilled Peach, I see that everywhere. I see it in the customers who come back every market day. I see it in the people who found out about us through a friend who couldn’t stop talking about the banana pudding. I see it in the community that has rallied around this brand and made the Peach Fam feel like something real. The results of the work I’ve put in speak for themselves, and that is my success.
A big revenue number means nothing to me if I’m not making an impact. But when someone tells me that my grandmother’s recipe brought them comfort, or that finding Chilled Peach at a farmers market made their weekend, that’s when I know I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.
Success grows. I know there’s more ahead, the café, the ice cream, the larger reach. But I never want to lose sight of what it actually means. It’s not about how big you get. It’s about how deeply you connect.
