Today we’d like to introduce you to Arkeirya K..
Hi Arkeirya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Jonestown, Mississippi. I always had a love for music since a child. I always give credit to my parents and 5 siblings who are all individuals with a different favorite artist or different perspective when it comes to music. Things started to open for me when I attended Delta State University where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in Digital Media Art. I started out as a music video director and editor for other artists. It wasn’t until I moved to Florida during Covid that I came from behind the camera and started making my own music. I didn’t begin to take music seriously until last year early 2025. I released my first full body of work which was an EP titled “ The Intro” under the artist name R.A.I.A.
As of recently I’ve gone through a complete Re-brand and moving forward I will be going by the artist name “Arkeirya K.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. I have had a lot of struggles with confidence when it comes to making music. A lot of heartbreak and self discovery has led me to the place where I am now which has molded me into the artist you see today . A lot of identity issues and questions surrounding who I am and my sexuality. A lot of ups and downs from childhood trauma and finding my voice through it all.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So I make mostly Hip-Hop/ R&B music . With my rebrand as Arkeirya K. Going forward, I will be releasing a lot more R&B. I will still be rapping still as well but it will be over R&B tracks. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come as an independent artist. Releasing my first EP and just proving to myself that I can make quality music that people can relate to and music that can spark an emotion whether it’s making them smile laugh or even cry. The thing that sets me apart especially as a female in the hiphop world is my stance that “Good Girls don’t finish last, they just take longer to be seen” I want to bring back the ability and showcase to the world that you can be a successful female in this music game without the pressures of being overly sexual or revealing.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is one with me and my older sister Tazzie. We played a game where it’s similar to the floor is Lava but the floor was water. We lived in a 3 bedroom 2story apartment and we had this huge carpet in the living room. The game started on the carpet which was the beach and we had to make it away from this huge monster “my cousin” and swim across the water “the naked floor” to the stairs which were like the mountains and we climbed up the stairs and pretended to fall down them and I had to pretend to save her. And then we were victorious in the end making it to the mountain top.
