Daily Inspiration: Meet Benjye Peters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benjye Peters.

Benjye, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Brooklyn NY, then started school on the Caribbean island of Grenada before relocating to Atlanta. I began producing for local artists at the age of 11, & progressed into performing at age 14 with Mississippi transplants Farouc & Reddy, which gave me a foothold to network & establish my first placements. During these years, I first acquired a business license & registered our music group as “2 Sides Global”, as we’d collectively been performing under the “2 Sides” banner, & beyond just production, included merchandise, & a makeshift documentary about our humble beginnings. Upon relocating to Massachusetts in 2009, the musical collective known as 2 Sides Global evolved into a hub for multimedia solutions for our associated business endeavors. What began as a way to index our intellectual property, developed into a marketable asset with the establishment of the hashtag #Ci9E, which allows us to locate most content associated with the label, & clients respectfully. As of 2019, the collective became able to accept private, government, & corporate clients on a contractual basis for tasks outside of multimedia, including consultation, & market analysis.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Fortunately, I’ve faced few obstacles as my mentor (DJ Redd Dread) educated me early on the business principles of music, which prevented me from being held in any long term contractual commitments that wouldn’t benefit me in the long run. I have a very loving & supportive family (except for Wayne lol), that gives brutally honest feedback when I present my plans. A few bad management arrangements almost discouraged me from reaching this point, but my friends & collaborators kept the ship sailing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a producer by heart, with an almost trance-like response to deep bass lines. I’m proud that our collective established something valuable to our clients, far beyond the scope of music.

What’s next?
In the upcoming years, I’d like to continue providing innovative marketing solutions to fellow artists & clients.
