Daily Inspiration: Meet Jayon Jenkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayon Jenkins.

Hi Jayon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My initial start in hiphop was freestyling in the back of my grandmothers apartment with my cousins and having rap battles. After that I was a part of an after school music program where I began to make beats but pivoted over to rapping and fell in love with it. A few years later my friend J. loft took me took a studio when I was 16 and I’ve never looked back.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggles honestly were finances during my college years it was hard to find studios and good quality, also the mentality to keep going would also be hard at times that’s why I took a 4 year hiatus there was so much stress in my life at the time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a rapper my niche is conscious trap music and I’m known for having a unique flow. I’m most proud of my catalog I have over 70 songs released even with a 4 year break and I’m still going strong.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly living life makes me happy because it’s something we all don’t get the chance to do. Life is so beautiful it’s hard to not enjoy it.
