Check Out Lexi Lineberger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Lineberger.

Hi Lexi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was raised by music. My mother often jokes about how most households will stress to stay quiet so they can avoid waking a baby from her nap, but with me it was different. Our living room was full of musicians that were jamming while I slept peacefully in the room next to them.

Throughout childhood my mother taught piano and guitar while also playing various instruments for multiple bands. In 2012 she opened her own music store and school called “Keys & Strings LKN” located in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. The majority of my teenage years were spent teaching lessons at the music store, singing and playing locally with other band members. Around this time I also joined the school band and worked my way up to first chair alto saxophone.

My father is mainly a drummer and a dancer but he can also sing and play guitar, piano and bass. I didn’t grow up with his influence as heavy as my moms, since he lived in South Carolina until I was a teenager.

I became interested in reading and writing poetry around the time I reached 3rd grade. It wasn’t until I reached my teenage years that I began writing actual lyrics. Music gradually became my second language. At one point, around my 16th birthday, there was a time when I was singing in a band that consisted of my mom, dad, grandma and a guitar player of no relation. Music had become a big part of my life, but I was surrounded by others with a similar love.

The struggle came when it was time to take these songs to the recording studio. I did not have the budget for studio time or music videos. On top of this I did not have the best luck finding an engineer that fit the sound I was looking for. This is when I had the idea to start a production company.

I packed my things up and moved to Atlanta, Georgia where I attended the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media. In 2025 I graduated with a certification in Audio Production. I have been building up my company “Lex E Luthor Productions” ever since. Some of my services include running live sound, studio recording, mixing, mastering, film scores, videography, and photography.

I travel and work local jobs. Recently, one of the bands that I work for (Shotguns n’ Roses) took me on their tour bus to run sound and film between a resort in Florida and House of Blues Myrtle Beach. I also have a physical location which is found in the same building as “Keys & Strings LKN” – my mothers music store and school. This is the location where I am building my production studio. It consists of a vocal booth, live room, control room, backdrops, green screens, and professional lighting. The studio is capable of anything as simple as a vocal recording or a photo shoot to something as complex as a filmed live session, podcast, or a music video.

My background in film started a little later in life but is interesting nonetheless. As a child I would meet up with eight of my cousins twice a year. We would write scripts and then act, direct, and film our own projects. This started around 12 years old. Along with this I was a part of the news crew in my school where I helped in front of and behind the camera. I stayed in theater throughout middle and high school and also took acting for the camera classes in early college. Even though it was an acting class we also learned how to work behind the scenes of films and headshots. For our final project we were put into groups where we wrote, acted, filmed and edited our own short films.

It is an incredible blessing to be able to call what I do work and to make a living off of something that I am so passionate about. I truly enjoy all of the creatives that I have gotten to meet and collaborate with along the way. Here’s to chasing our dreams!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. I have struggled through many hardships and losses. One of the biggest struggles would definitely be financials. I did not come from a super wealthy family and I attended college full time which did not leave me with much free time to work and pay bills. My mammy (grandpa’s sister) was diagnosed with cancer a few months before I finished school. She understood me better than anyone and was my best friend for my entire life. One of the most important people to me besides my parents. She was the first person that I would call anytime that I needed guidance or wanted to share an accomplishment. I called mammy more than anybody else when I moved away to school. She always pushed me to do my best and checked in on my grades. She told me to make sure I saved her a ticket for my graduation because she was determined to make it no matter how sick she was. Unfortunately, she passed two months before the ceremony and her chair sat empty. It was extremely hard to be excited about opening this new chapter while closing such a special chapter. I still struggle with grieving her but she stills fuels me to be my best.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a videographer and photographer as well as a certified audio engineer. I run live sound for bands, record studio sessions, mix, master, produce, score film and video games, film (concerts, music videos, vlogs, reels, commercials, podcasts, etc), and take pictures.

On the side I write music, sing and play some guitar, piano, bass, drums, and saxophone.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
It is important to find work that you are passionate about and proud of. However, I believe that it is equally as important to make sure that work will be sustainable. It is important to create detailed long and short term plans. Things may not always go as expected but try to prepare yourself for this. Don’t be scared to ask for advice and take advantage of your resources.

One way that I have ensured sustainability for my work is by offering multiple services in similar fields. I could have just been an audio engineer and worked with sound but this would cause me to lose many opportunities. I am able to be booked much more consistently by offering multiple services that are all production based. I am less likely to be out of work if studio sessions or concert videos aren’t being booked because I still offer a slew of other services that would be in demand at the time.
