Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Igbowu.
Hi Kira, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in New York, but Atlanta has been an important part of my life for nearly three decades. Many of my closest friends live there, I still own a home there, and what began as regular visits to see friends and family eventually became a second community, both personally and professionally.
I’ve always been passionate about beauty, wellness, and helping people feel confident in their own skin. After finding my way into esthetics, I quickly realized that skincare was about much more than products and treatments. It was about helping people feel seen, cared for, and confident. That philosophy became the foundation of my work and eventually led me to open Full Frontal Beauty & Esthetics in Brooklyn in 2019.
What began as a solo practice has grown into a thriving skincare business built primarily through referrals, trust, and long-term relationships. I specialize in corrective and restorative skincare, creating customized treatment plans that help clients achieve healthy, sustainable results rather than chasing quick fixes.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with thousands of clients, collaborate with national skincare brands, participate in New York Fashion Week, and expand into business mentorship for beauty professionals. But what I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built. Many of my clients have been with me for years, and some continue to see me even after relocating to other cities.
Today, Full Frontal Beauty & Esthetics is a private skincare studio in Brooklyn focused on personalized care, advanced treatments, and long-term skin health. My goal has remained the same from the beginning: to help people feel comfortable in their skin and become the best version of themselves.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been maintaining strong connections to Atlanta. Some of my longtime clients still live there, and being able to return and serve that community after all these years feels incredibly meaningful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most business owners. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance being both the service provider and the business owner. In the early years, I wore every hat—esthetician, marketer, bookkeeper, customer service representative, and everything in between.
Like many small businesses, navigating the uncertainty of the pandemic was a significant challenge. It forced me to become more adaptable, creative, and intentional about how I operated my business. Looking back, some of the most difficult seasons ultimately led to some of the most important growth.
Another challenge has been learning to trust my own vision. As an entrepreneur, there are always opinions about what you should do, how quickly you should grow, or what success should look like. Over time, I’ve become more confident in building a business that reflects my values rather than following someone else’s blueprint.
I’ve also learned that growth isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about doing less, refining your offerings, setting stronger boundaries, and focusing on the clients who truly value your work. That shift has allowed me to create a business that feels more sustainable, more fulfilling, and more aligned with the experience I want to provide.
Every challenge has taught me something, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without those lessons.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Full Frontal Beauty & Esthetics is a private skincare studio based in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in corrective and restorative skincare. While my practice is rooted in New York City, I regularly work with clients from across the country and maintain longstanding relationships with clients in other markets, including Atlanta.
My approach combines advanced treatments, professional-grade products, and personalized treatment plans designed to support long-term skin health rather than temporary fixes.
What sets Full Frontal apart is the level of personalization and partnership involved in the client experience. I believe great skincare is about more than treatments—it’s about education, trust, consistency, and helping clients make informed decisions about their skin over time. Every treatment plan is customized to the individual, and I work closely with clients to create realistic, sustainable strategies that fit their lifestyle and goals.
Over the years, Full Frontal has become known for delivering results while maintaining a highly personal experience. Many clients have been with me for years, and some continue to see me even after relocating to other cities. That loyalty is something I never take for granted and is one of the things I’m most proud of as a business owner.
In addition to working directly with clients, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with leading skincare brands, provide services during New York Fashion Week, and mentor beauty professionals looking to grow their businesses. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that expertise matters, but relationships matter just as much.
At its core, Full Frontal Beauty & Esthetics is built on trust. My goal has always been to create a space where clients feel cared for, educated, and confident—not only in their skin, but in the decisions they’re making about their overall wellness.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that might surprise people is that skincare is often only a small part of the conversations I have with clients. Of course we talk about skin, treatments, and products, but over the years I’ve become a trusted resource for many of the people I work with.
Clients often come to me for recommendations on everything from wellness providers and cosmetic procedures to skincare products, self-care routines, and lifestyle changes. I take a great deal of pride in being a trusted source and sounding board for my clients. In many ways, I’ve become a personal wellness Rolodex of sorts—someone they can turn to when they’re looking for guidance, referrals, or honest advice.
Because I take a long-term, relationship-based approach to skincare, many of those relationships have lasted for years and evolved far beyond what happens in the treatment room. I think people assume my job is simply performing facials, but in reality, a large part of what I do is listening, educating, and helping people make informed decisions. The treatment itself is important, but the trust that’s built over time is what I’m most proud of.
Another thing that surprises people is that many of my closest client relationships have continued even after they’ve moved away. Some still travel to see me, while others stay connected through product recommendations, consultations, and ongoing support. That’s something I never expected when I first started my business, and it’s one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
