Hidden Gems: Meet Mark Williams of Pendulum Ink

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Williams.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m just a kid from the Bronx who fell in love with hip-hop at a young age. My dad rapped to me in the womb, I wrapped on the loudspeaker in high school,

I Got offered a record deal by Missy Elliott as a young 22-year-old man. I hope the shift music as a young 24-year-old man by dropping a song every week I worked with Drake, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Bruno Mars, etc. etc, I made the cover with a XXL, I started a school for lyricism. This isn’t even half of my accomplishments and accolades. I am grateful to be a part of this culture.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of the challenges I learned along the way came from trial and error. Back in those days there were very minimal mentors and very minimal spaces to learn about the business of Music. I failed a whole bunch and for me it was important to retain that knowledge of failure to use it as success, not only in my life and career, but also for the next generation of MC’s that we’re looking to conquer what was set before all of us in this culture of music if I look back and say what was easier or smooth the only thing that was easy and smooth was creating music and collaborating with people with like-minded intentions

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pendulum Ink?
My business is called Pendulum Ink. It is an online school for lyricism and hip-hop. I am the dean of students. I also teach MC’s and practitioners the art of rhyme, business, branding, and I bring in celebrities every month. The one thing that sets us apart from the other competitive companies, such as master class is that I step in and I’m actually available for the students that are participating. It means a lot to myself to involve what it is that I do with the career and life of our students. The one thing that I’m proud of brand wise the most is the logo. Once you see that logo, You kinda know exactly what is being represented. We have classes running every single night. It’s not easy to do in the slightest. We have Tutoring for our students. Everything that you could think of pertaining to Hip Hop we have here at Pendulum.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Work hard and never stop learning. The only thing I wish I knew before starting out was making sure that I had somebody to ask questions to and learning as much as I could about what I was getting myself into.
