Conversations with Lisa Royes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Royes.

Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into events began long before I officially launched Asil’s Occasions. I’ve always had a passion for bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences. While my professional background is in education, I found myself constantly planning celebrations for family, friends, and my community. What started as helping others quickly evolved into a business rooted in creativity, organization, and hospitality.

As the demand for my services grew, I founded Asil’s Occasions to provide wedding planning, event design, and production services for clients seeking memorable celebrations. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to design weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate events, and destination experiences. More recently, I expanded into venue management, overseeing event operations and helping clients transform blank spaces into unforgettable experiences. Today, I have the privilege of combining my love for design, logistics, and guest experience while helping clients celebrate life’s most important moments.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has been filled with both victories and challenges. Building a business from the ground up requires resilience, especially in the events industry where trends, client expectations, and economic conditions are constantly changing.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance creativity with the realities of running a business. There have been seasons of rapid growth and seasons where I had to reevaluate my services, pricing, and marketing strategies. Managing a venue while growing an event planning company also requires wearing multiple hats and staying adaptable.
The event industry is often glamorous on the surface, but behind every beautiful event is countless hours of planning, problem-solving, and relationship-building. Those challenges have strengthened my leadership skills and taught me the importance of perseverance, systems, and surrounding myself with the right team.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the Owner and Lead Planner & Designer of Asil’s Occasions, where we specialize in wedding planning, event design, and production for weddings, social events, and corporate gatherings. I am also actively involved in venue management, overseeing operations for an event venue in Snellville, Georgia, where I help clients transform a blank space into a memorable and seamless event experience.

In addition to serving clients, I am passionate about supporting and educating fellow event professionals. Recently, I founded AO Planner’s Collective, a community dedicated to the growth and development of event planners. Through quarterly virtual workshops, industry experts, and collaborative learning opportunities, we help planners strengthen their businesses, refine their skills, and build meaningful connections within the industry.

I am known for creating thoughtfully designed experiences that are both beautiful and intentional. Whether it’s an intimate wedding, a milestone celebration, or a large-scale event, my goal is to ensure every detail reflects the client’s vision while creating an unforgettable guest experience.

What I am most proud of is the impact my work has on both clients and fellow professionals. Seeing a client’s vision come to life is incredibly rewarding, but equally fulfilling is helping other planners grow in confidence and build sustainable businesses.

What sets me apart is my ability to bridge planning, design, production, venue management, and education. I don’t simply create events—I create experiences, build relationships, and invest in the growth of both my clients and the event industry as a whole.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I would encourage anyone pursuing a dream to start before they feel completely ready. Entrepreneurship requires courage, consistency, and a commitment to continuous learning. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it is built through intentional actions, meaningful relationships, and a willingness to grow through every experience.

For those interested in the event industry, I cannot overstate the importance of networking, investing in both a business coach and an event planning coach, and taking advantage of workshops, conferences, retreats, and educational opportunities. The event industry is incredibly rewarding, but it is also a business. Learning how to build profitable systems, price your services appropriately, develop strong vendor relationships, and deliver exceptional client experiences is essential for long-term success.

One of the greatest investments you can make is in your own development. Surround yourself with people who have achieved what you aspire to accomplish and remain open to learning from their experiences.

For me, every event represents an opportunity to celebrate people, create joy, and leave a lasting impression. That responsibility is something I never take for granted. As I look toward the future of Asil’s Occasions and AO Planner’s Collective, I am excited to continue creating extraordinary experiences for clients while mentoring and supporting the next generation of event professionals.
