Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Watkins of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Watkins.

Hi Jasmine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jasmine Watkins, and my story is one of faith, grief, healing, and transformation.

I grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia, and now live in the Atlanta area as a wife, mother of three, fashion entrepreneur, creative coach, and ministry leader. For much of my life, I battled rejection, insecurity, and the desire to feel seen and accepted. Those struggles were intensified when I experienced tremendous loss, losing my mother, father, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, and church community within a short period of time.

The weight of grief could have broken me, but instead, it became the catalyst for one of the greatest transformations of my life. I committed to healing spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Through faith, discipline, and a deeper relationship with God, I not only lost weight but also shed unhealthy habits, limiting beliefs, broken relationships, and the fear that once kept me hidden.

Today, I use my voice and platform to help others discover their identity, confidence, and purpose. Through fashion, ministry, speaking, and coaching, I teach people that style is more than clothing—it’s a reflection of who God created them to be. My mission is to bridge the gap between faith and fashion while encouraging others to embrace healing, walk boldly in their calling, and live unapologetically as themselves.

My story is proof that even after tremendous loss, God can restore, rebuild, and reveal a version of you that is stronger, freer, and more confident than you ever imagined.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. My journey has been marked by significant challenges, loss, and personal battles. Within a short period of time, I lost my mother, father, grandmother, multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. As if that wasn’t enough, I also experienced the loss of a church community that had been a major part of my life for over 11 years. Losing people through death is one kind of grief, but losing a spiritual family and community is another kind of heartbreak that required its own healing process.

Navigating that level of grief while still showing up as a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and leader was one of the hardest seasons of my life. Beyond the loss, I struggled with rejection, insecurity, low self-esteem, and the pressure of trying to find my identity in what I did rather than who I was. There were moments when I questioned my purpose, my faith, and even my ability to keep moving forward.

However, those struggles became the very things that shaped me. Through prayer, healing, discipline, and a deeper relationship with God, I learned that pain can either make you bitter or make you better. I chose healing. Along the way, I not only transformed physically through my health journey, but I also experienced emotional and spiritual freedom. I shed weight, unhealthy habits, limiting beliefs, and relationships that no longer aligned with who I was becoming.

Looking back, I wouldn’t call the road easy, but I would call it purposeful. Every challenge taught me resilience, strengthened my faith, and prepared me to help others navigate their own journeys of healing, identity, and transformation. Today, I stand as a testament that even after tremendous loss, God is still able to restore, rebuild, and reveal purpose in the midst of pain.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
For a magazine interview, I’d make it personal and mission-driven:

I am a fashion entrepreneur, creative coach, speaker, ministry leader, and founder of several faith-based initiatives designed to help people discover who they are and walk confidently in their God-given purpose. While many people know me through fashion, what I really do is help people reconnect with their identity.

I specialize in bridging the gap between faith, fashion, healing, and personal transformation. Through styling services, courses, coaching, speaking engagements, and ministry, I help individuals understand that what they wear is often connected to how they see themselves. My work goes beyond clothing—it’s about confidence, self-worth, healing, and authenticity.

I am perhaps best known for creating spaces where people can have honest conversations about faith, grief, church hurt, identity, and purpose. Whether I’m teaching through The Fashion Manual, hosting Retail Therapy Conversations, leading creatives through Prophetic-ship, or styling clients, my goal is always the same: helping people become comfortable with who God created them to be.

What I am most proud of is the impact. I have watched people gain confidence, rediscover their voice, heal from painful experiences, and step boldly into their calling. I’m also proud of my own journey—overcoming grief, rejection, insecurity, and tremendous loss while continuing to build, serve, and inspire others.

What sets me apart is that I don’t separate style from substance. I believe fashion can be a tool for transformation, faith can be practical, and healing can be visible. My approach combines creativity, spiritual insight, real-life experience, and authenticity. I don’t just teach people how to look different—I help them become different from the inside out.

At the core of everything I do is one mission: to help people show up fully, boldly, and unapologetically as the person God created them to be.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Atlanta has become a smaller Hollywood for artsy creatives and connections for business owners and entrepreneurs.

I don’t like the traffic and sometimes the feel of competing versus collaborating culture that Atlanta has.
