Today we’d like to introduce you to Ange Kells.
Hi Ange, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey started long before I officially owned a business. I’ve always been someone who looks for solutions, especially when it comes to hair care. As a woman who understands the unique needs of textured hair and locs, I often found myself searching for products that truly nourished the hair and scalp without compromising quality or ingredients. When I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I decided to create it.
What began as a passion for healthy hair evolved into years of research, product development, and learning the business side of the beauty industry. I became deeply invested in understanding ingredients, formulation, and the science behind hair health. I wasn’t interested in creating products simply to sell them—I wanted to develop solutions that genuinely worked and addressed the concerns many people in our community were experiencing.
As my knowledge grew, so did my vision. I transitioned from being a consumer and enthusiast to becoming a product developer and entrepreneur, building brands and creating products with intention. Every step taught me valuable lessons about persistence, leadership, and the importance of staying connected to the people you serve.
Today, I wear several hats—entrepreneur, business owner, hair product developer, and creative visionary—but at the core of everything I do is a commitment to innovation and authenticity. I believe successful businesses are built by listening, solving real problems, and never losing sight of your purpose.
Looking back, my journey hasn’t been a straight line, but every challenge helped shape the businesswoman I am today. What continues to motivate me is knowing that the products and brands I create have the potential to make people feel more confident, empowered, and seen. That’s the impact I’ve always wanted to make, and it’s what drives me forward every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable.
One of the biggest hurdles has been obtaining capital. As an entrepreneur and product developer, bringing ideas to life requires significant investment—from research and formulation to manufacturing, packaging, and marketing. There were times when I had to be resourceful, make strategic decisions, and learn how to build with what I had while keeping my long-term vision intact.
Another challenge was overcoming imposter syndrome. No matter how passionate or prepared you are, there are moments when you question yourself and wonder, “Is this really going to work?” Those thoughts can creep in when you’re stepping into unfamiliar territory or pursuing something that hasn’t been done exactly the way you envision it. I learned that confidence isn’t the absence of doubt—it’s moving forward despite it.
I’ve also learned the importance of protecting my vision. Early on, I shared ideas too freely, assuming everyone would understand or support what I was building. Over time, I realized that not every dream needs an audience during its development stage. Some ideas need room to grow before they’re introduced to the world.
Finding a trustworthy community has been another part of the journey. Entrepreneurship can feel isolating, and it’s important to surround yourself with people who genuinely want to see you succeed, who offer honest feedback, and who understand the challenges that come with building something from the ground up.
Looking back, the struggles have been just as important as the successes. They strengthened my faith in myself, sharpened my business instincts, and reinforced the belief that persistence often matters more than perfection. Every obstacle I’ve faced has helped shape not only the entrepreneur I am today, but also the leader and visionary I’m continuing to become.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At the heart of my business is innovation, education, and intentional product development. I am the founder of a beauty and wellness brand focused on creating high-quality solutions for textured hair, locs, and overall hair health. My work extends beyond simply selling products—it’s about identifying real needs within the community and developing solutions that help people care for their hair with confidence.
What sets my brand apart is that every product begins with purpose. I’m deeply involved in the development process, from concept to formulation, ensuring that each product aligns with the standards, values, and results I want my customers to experience. I don’t believe in creating products just to follow trends. My focus has always been on delivering effective, thoughtfully crafted solutions that address concerns many people have struggled to find answers for.
Over the years, I’ve become known for my commitment to authenticity, innovation, and creating products specifically with the needs of the textured hair and loc community in mind. I take pride in developing offerings that not only support healthy hair but also celebrate the beauty, versatility, and culture surrounding natural hair and locs.
What I’m most proud of is building a brand that is rooted in trust. In an industry filled with promises, I’ve worked hard to create products and experiences that people can genuinely rely on. Seeing customers achieve healthier hair, feel more confident, and become loyal advocates of the brand is one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
I want readers to know that my brand is more than a collection of products—it’s a reflection of years of research, persistence, and passion. Every product, service, and future innovation is created with the goal of empowering people to embrace their hair journey while providing solutions that are both effective and thoughtfully designed. As the brand continues to grow, my commitment remains the same: to create with intention, serve with integrity, and always put the needs of the community first.
What’s next?
Stay tuned! I’m forever forward thinking and planning.
