Rising Stars: Meet Chaz Anthony of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chaz Anthony.

Hi Chaz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My life has changed drastically since the last time I did an interview with you guys. And January 2024 I was shot five times while sitting in my car at a red light. My car was struck 30 times by an assault rifle and I was shot five times once in my jaw once in my carotid artery in my neck twice in my back and one in the back of my head. Since then I have been on a recovery journey, while maintaining of growing business. I owe it all to God that I’m even here to be able to have an interview with you guys. Since I have taken on a bunch of new business ventures. But with don’t let mom find out I have started doing more collaborations with other artists and designers. My biggest collaboration at the moment is with Key Glock. I am now his creative director of merchandise. I also have a Collab coming up with the Memphis grizzlies and with Valabasas jeans. My recovery journey is still going on. I’ve been in back to back to back surgeries ever since January 2024 but I am at the end of the road of the surgeries where I only have two more to go for my jaw reconstruction. I just hope that my story can touch others and show them that you never give up no matter what happens to you. Everyone has a purpose. It’s your job to find out what God put you on this earth for.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Medical bills, surgeries, and being down. Still running a business while going through such a traumatic experience has been the toughest thing I have ever done in my life, but with God on my side, anything is possible, and I’m so grateful that I have still succeeded in the midst of all this turmoil. I still have a lot of growth and a lot of learning to do, but I’m taking a day by day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a clothing designer with a juris doctor I. I graduated law school in 2020 but ever since I was just being a clothing designer because that’s what works for me. I think that what says me apart from others is that I took the uneasy route and yet persevere through and succeeded well currently succeeding all things to God. Especially being from Memphis, Tennessee, where is known to be a “fashion desert”. However, I am doing what I can to change that perception of my city Memphis, Tennessee.

What matters most to you?
Keeping God first is the number one thing that matters to me. However, the second thing that matters to me most is creating something that makes people feel good. One thing that I love to hear most from my clients is that “yo I got so many compliments on my clothing. People never compliment me and it made me feel so good”. Just dead alone is what keeps me going every day.
