Life & Work with Shoney of Philadelphia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shoney.

Shoney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The stage is not a stranger to Shoney; it is a space shaped through early church experiences where she first learned to discover and develop her voice. Her natural boldness in voice, creativity, and personality—an unmistakable “it factor”—is a gift she attributes to God, and one that continues to resonate with diverse audiences.

That foundation has become the heartbeat of her live shows, where she serves as a dynamic host, creating interactive spaces for singers to grow, compete, and be celebrated in real time. Alongside her artistry, she operates as a CEO through L.A.S Consulting LLC, extending her impact into strategy, empowerment, and purpose-driven leadership.

Today, Shoney stands as an artist, live music host, and CEO—faith-led, expressive, and deeply committed to purpose-driven work.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth, but Shoney remains committed to being fully herself and ensuring that everything she creates is original and custom-built.

Many of the challenges she’s faced have ultimately become opportunities for growth and expansion, from creating music in a DIY corner of her home to eventually developing her own studio space, each season requiring faith, resilience, and resourcefulness.

The same is true for building her community, Shoney Vocal Lounge, from the ground up, which hosts the Raise Your Voice Acapella Faceoff Show—an independent platform she designed and continues to evolve while also operating her consulting company. She has also had to adapt through a constantly shifting creative and digital landscape, learning the ins and outs of changing platforms, audience behaviors, and industry expectations while continuing to pivot and rise.

One thing Shoney is known for is consistency, flowing from her heart in everything she does, she loves people and God. Authenticity remains the foundation of her artistry, leadership, and ability to connect with audiences.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
She is known for originality, consistency, and creating from the heart—never duplicating existing formats but instead building her own lanes from scratch. Her work spans music creation, live show production, talent development, and consulting through L.A.S Consulting LLC, where she extends her impact into strategy, empowerment, and creative leadership.
What sets her apart is her ability to merge artistry with structure: she is not only a performer and creator, but also a builder of systems, experiences, and communities. From developing music in a DIY home setup to building a full studio environment, and from growing a grassroots live show into an ongoing platform, her journey reflects consistent expansion through innovation.
She is most proud of her ability to stay authentic while building everything independently—trusting her voice, her vision, and her faith-led creativity even in shifting digital and industry landscapes. At the core of her work is connection: creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and elevated in real time.

How do you define success?
For Shoney, success is defined less by external metrics and more by the ability to build and maintain healthy relationships in a sustainable way. It’s about cultivating connections that are genuine, grounded, and mutually healthy—whether in family, friendship, or creative spaces—and being able to nurture them over time without losing self.

In that sense, success is not just what is achieved publicly, but what is preserved privately: relationship with God, peace, stability, and relationships that can grow and last in a healthy way.
