Life & Work with Ulanda Kaye Smith of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ulanda Kaye Smith.

Hi Ulanda kaye, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was little, my mom entered me in local pageants. It was so much fun. Years later, I told my sister I wanted to model. She smiled and said ‘Let’s get you modeling!’ I signed up with a modeling school. I won a competition with them. The prize was an advertisement on the NASDAQ bill board in Times Square. The advertisement ran 26 times.
From that point, I networked with other models, designers and social media platforms. I appeared in 4 magazines, both digital and printed. I walked in Fashion Week in Los Angeles last October. I have a runway job this July for En Vogue. I have another Fashion Week in NYC coming up in September.
Modeling is amazing. It gives me joy. It makes my soul sing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve had to get dressed in the rain in bad bars all types of things but I did it. When you run into those struggles you pray and keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Verified Social Media Influencer. My platforms are Instagram, Facebook, and Tic Toc. I have 100k+ followers across these platforms.
I engage with my followers on each platform daily. I spend many hours a day working these platforms, making reels and posting. I have partnered with Amazon on Instagram recently.
I am known for using my modeling and these platforms to advocate for Breast Cancer Research.
I am most proud of my 3 children.
My unique outlook on life and personality are 2 qualities that set me apart from others.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was born in a small town called Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I was definitely a hand-full! I was the youngest of 5 children. My next oldest sibling was 8 years older. I was very spoiled by my parents. The whole town had a hand in my up bringing. Some people were related, others not.
I learned to play the guitar and piano very well. I think my mom had me learn those instruments to just get me to sit still and focus.
