Today we’d like to introduce you to Jolanda Malone.
Hi Jolanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For over fifteen years, I built a career in insurance as a claims adjuster. It was steady, structured work, and I gave it my all. But in 2024, that chapter closed unexpectedly when I was let go — and what felt like as if my world was crumbling down around me, I also knew truly that what I had been doing for years was truly not of what I was meant to do, and it was time for me to step into my purpose.
I didn’t come to energy work/sound healing as a career move. I came to it, as my calling. My faith, my spirit, and the people I’ve loved and lost, including my father, whose presence I still feel in the quiet moments. All shaped a deeper understanding of what it means to hold space for others. So I leaned in fully and I became certified in sound healing ,reiki, & breathwork practitioner. I deepened my practice in all and I founded Just Breathe & Be Healing Services, a holistic wellness practice in rooted in faith, community, and the belief that everyone deserves a place to rest, release, and reconnect.
Alongside that, I built JoJo’s Suite Spot Cafe, in which, is my catering and private chef business. Feeding people, the body and soul has always been close to my heart. My father would always cook and take the meals to people who were in need. I’ve also have joined with Connecting the Gap , a non profit organization that empower under-served single mothers and their children through comprehensive support , education and resources that foster stability and growth.
I’m proud to offer the community sound healing sessions across Atlanta and the surrounding cities.. Every step has been guided and every loss has carried. I’m learning that and every “no” eventually pointed and guide me toward a louder “yes.” and that’s exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road and I won’t pretend it has. After losing my job after more than fifteen years it was a real blow. When you’ve poured that much of yourself into something and it ends suddenly, you’re left questioning a lot. Your security, your direction, even your worth. That uncertainty was heavy , in which this led to a road of depression and anxiety.
There was also grief woven through this season. Losing my father in 2023 changed me. Stepping into this work meant doing it while still carrying that loss, and there were days the weight of everything sat right on my chest. But honestly, that grief is also part of what deepened my calling. It taught me firsthand why people need space to breathe, to release, and to feel held.
Then there are the everyday struggles of building something from nothing. The financial uncertainty of starting over, learning the business side of running a wellness practice and a catering service. Also putting myself out there before anyone knew my name, and trusting that the community would show up. While still figuring it out how to make it all sustainable takes a lot of faith.
Every one of those struggles refined something in me. My faith carried me through the parts I couldn’t see my way around. The signs I kept receiving reminded me I wasn’t walking alone. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been mine, and every bump has shaped the work that I’m so grateful to do today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At the heart of my work is Just Breathe & Be Healing Services, a holistic wellness practice where I specialize in sound healing, reiki, and breathwork. My sessions are built around helping people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and release what they’ve been carrying. Whether that’s stress, grief, tension, or just the noise of everyday life.
In my sound healing sessions, I work with singing bowls mapped to the body’s energy centers, using vibration and tone to guide people into a deep state of rest and restoration. Sound has a way of reaching places that words can’t. It meets people exactly where they are. I pair that with reiki, an energy practice that helps move and balance what feels stuck, and with breathwork, because the breath is one of the most powerful tools we have to calm the nervous system and come back home to ourselves. Together, these three create a complete experience for the body, mind, and spirit.
What I’m known for is the atmosphere I create. People tell me my sessions feel safe, sacred, and deeply personal. That’s intentional. I don’t just lead a session; I hold space. Watching someone walk in carrying the weight of the world and afterwards walking out lighter, is the whole reason I do this. My work is spiritually grounded and that foundation shapes everything — it’s not just a service, it’s a ministry of rest and just be in that moment.
What sets me apart is that this isn’t a trend I picked up. It’s a calling I’ve lived. I bring my full self to it: my faith, my story, the losses I’ve walked through, and a genuine love for my community. People don’t just come for a service; they come to be seen, and they leave feeling like they matter. That’s the difference.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that what feels like an ending is often the beginning of what you were truly meant to do. Losing my career felt like the ground giving way beneath me ,but if that hadn’t happened, I might never have stepped fully into this calling. Sometimes the closed door isn’t a punishment, it’s a redirection not to find another door but to create a door.
I’ve also learned to trust that I’m never walking alone. Through every season of doubt and grief, I kept receiving signs and reminders that I was being guided, even when I couldn’t see the whole path. My faith taught me to keep moving forward in the dark, trusting that the next step would reveal itself and it always did.
And maybe the deepest lesson of all is that you have to give yourself the same grace and rest you offer everyone else. I spend my days helping others slow down, breathe, and release and I had to learn to do that for myself too. Healing isn’t something you arrive at once and keep. It’s a practice and you have to keep choosing it.
