Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgette Jackson.
Hi Georgette, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is one of unimaginable loss, unshakable faith, and God’s sustaining grace. As a young mother, I experienced the heartbreaking loss of my infant son, BJ, when he was only two months old. Years later, I faced another devastating loss when my daughter Dee passed away at the age of 33 after a courageous battle with illness. In the midst of my own grief, I stepped in to help raise her children, becoming both grandmother and caregiver.
Just three years later, tragedy struck again when my daughter Char passed away at the age of 37. In a span of years, I found myself grieving all three of my children. The journey did not stop there. I endured a painful divorce, lost my home, my vehicle, and my job during the pandemic. There were seasons when everything around me seemed to be falling apart. Yet through every trial, God proved Himself faithful.
I chose, with the help of God, to turn my inner pain into an outer purpose: to serve and give the hope I found to the lost, the homeless, the downtrodden, the grieving, and anyone who needed encouragement. I now run a nonprofit organization, Divine Rest, that serves homeless women. I’m an author, speaker, grief support facilitator, podcast host, and, most recently, a publisher.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My life has not been a smooth road at all, but by the grace of God, I have persevered through loss, unemployment, and a few minor health challenges.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In addition to being a speaker and author, I recently founded my own publishing company, A Heart-to-Heart Creation, LLC. Through this venture, I assist authors in publishing their books by coaching them throughout the entire process. My services include editing, interior formatting, book cover design, and marketing support once their books are finalized.
I also facilitate a grief support group aimed at helping individuals navigate their journey through loss. I strive to create a safe, judgment-free environment where participants feel comfortable sharing their innermost thoughts and feelings. Those experiencing loss often seek understanding rather than solutions; they want someone who will listen without trying to fix everything. My focus is on offering compassion for what they are going through.
I am most proud that through my lived experiences, God has given me the ability to inspire and encourage others through life’s vicissitudes and to help them see that there is hope after loss. I’m also proud that God has given me the creativity not only to publish my own books, but also to help others bring their stories to life that will bless others. A Heart-to-Heart Creation’s motto is “From the heart of your journey to the hearts God has called you to reach.”
Any big plans?
In this season, I feel that God is guiding me to speak more at conferences, retreats, and workshops to inspire and encourage His people. Therefore, I plan to put myself out there publicly and no longer hide behind my insecurities. Additionally, I aim to expand my publishing company by growing my client base. However, I am reminded of Proverbs 16:9, which states, “A man’s mind plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.”
