Rising Stars: Meet Jessie Vassie of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Vassie.

Hi Jessie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hey this is Jessie V. I started this creative thinking In Kansas City Missouri I was in a group called the KCMO Bucks! This was a group of me and my three siblings! We were a known youth group around our city for crashing the stage. We are from the hard core inter city where everything happens!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This raid was not and is not easy! I’ve been told I’ll help, I’ll be there for you and so on, but in reality you’ll be alone. With being in the field that I’m in everyone don’t want to help and or be apart until they see you elevating! That’s family friend or foe, the mind must be stable and structured to be alone with time, money and movement investments.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Jessie V. Is a Pastor/messenger, father, son, and a husband on this journey that I am on I have learned how to be more seeking and more open to creative ideas that are revealed to me through divine purpose. Throughout this journey. I have learned that the more structure that you are the better you can move. I’ve been shot I’ve been stabbed. I’ve been incarcerated three times and it all led me to the thinking of doing what I’m doing today. I will shot my head with a 12 gauge buy someone that was close to our family. I was incarcerated for distribution and sales of crack, cocaine and marijuana. Me and my brothers had an operation that took over the streets that we were on, but I am now proud of the situations and changes that I have made in my life. I have overcome the addiction of selling drugs and being a womanizer. I am down currently working on writing a book producing movies and documentaries on my platform called DaHang Out my most proud moment was when I was recognized in my city with proclamation from the mayor. This proclamation was due to the community events that me and my wife have in Kansas City Missouri. We have been doing events for the community, even though we are in Atlanta, Georgia.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up for me, was turning into a man at a young age, even though I was raised in the spiritual house there were still a lot of things going on outside my house that I seen like drug dealing killing whore prostitute anything exchanged for money to Profit! I grew up in the church, but then turned to the streets after being in the church for so long we had to go to church every day of the week due to my dad was a pastor, but we stayed right in the metro area of Kansas City, Missouri so that’s taught us a lot about the streets by just staying in the center or the metro area of Kansas City, Missouri me and my family or my mom, dad brothers and sister stayed on 4300 Montgall ave that’s a block up from the main strip for all the wrong doing ‘Prospect’. That made it where we had experience of a lot of stuff our neighborhood was never dull Our neighborhood always has some action going on from Neighbourhood drunks to the neighborhood, drug users into the neighborhood drug dealers we were surrounded about them all and due to us being in the middle of the city we knew everybody everybody knew us. Our last name is significant it rings there is no other with the last name that we had. My uncles they were known in the streets my uncle Willie he was known for Golden glove boxing in a pen attention. My uncle Lynn was known for not taking any mess. My uncle Glenn was known for a street hustler a man that wouldn’t take anything, but Profit, my uncle June he was crazy and my uncle Robert he was into the streets for real he was killed when I was about six years old by a street dealer so with all these things occurring and surrounded around me, I had a lot of observation and also I had a lot of opposition going on not too much opportunity, but through all of that, my parents kept us into the church so we can see something different but I decided to choose the streets. The streets was calling, even though I was in church doing everything that was supposed to be done. You can hear the echo of the streets steady calling in my name as a young age.
