Today we’d like to introduce you to Larry Johnson.

Hi Larry, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello! I’m Larry J., originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by way of Vidalia, Georgia, and I’ve been living in Atlanta for a little over a year. Professionally, I’m a Financial Risk Operations Officer and a content creator.

My corporate career began in 2016 after attending Florida A&M University. Since then, I’ve continued to grow professionally, climbing the corporate ladder through ongoing skill development and a commitment to learning. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across several areas of the financial industry, including merchant services, Anti-Money Laundering (AML/KYC), regulatory compliance, underwriting, and risk operations. Throughout my ten-year career, one of the things I’ve enjoyed most is using my knowledge and experience to help empower consumers and clients financially.

Outside of my corporate career, I create content centered around lifestyle, travel, DIY projects, and home improvement. Stepping into content creation felt like a natural progression because, at my core, I’ve always been a creative. Looking back, I realize I’ve been “creating content” my entire life—whether through painting, sewing, theater, broadcasting, or other creative outlets. Social media has simply given me a platform to share that creativity with a larger audience. Being able to express myself, inspire others, and connect with like-minded people is something that brings me a tremendous amount of joy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is that a rhetorical question? (Laughs.) The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but it has absolutely been worth the journey.

Along the way, I’ve faced challenges that could have easily stunted my growth if I had allowed them to. Fortunately, my faith, perseverance, and determination have always pushed me forward.

Throughout my corporate career, I’ve encountered everything from microaggressions to the challenges of being the youngest person in my department for several years. As a Black male and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, navigating corporate America hasn’t always been easy. There were times when I felt unheard, overlooked, or simply unappreciated. However, I live by a personal motto: “Never Fold.” To me, that means never giving up, even when circumstances become difficult. It’s a mindset that has carried me through every obstacle I’ve faced and continues to guide me today.

I apply that same philosophy to my content creation journey. Building a platform and cultivating a community takes time, patience, and consistency. Like many creators, I’m waiting for greater exposure and new opportunities, but I understand that success rarely comes overnight. I believe that with consistency, hard work, and my “Never Fold” mentality, I’m destined for great things.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In my corporate career, I manage regulatory compliance operations for a major financial institution, helping ensure that consumers are serviced in accordance with financial regulations and industry standards.

As a content creator, I focus on lifestyle, travel, DIY, and home improvement content. I’m known for sharing unique life experiences while also showing people practical ways to improve their homes themselves. Recently, I launched a series across my social platforms called “Curating the Chateau,” where I document the process of transforming my recently purchased 20-year-old home into a space that reflects my personal style and vision.

I’m incredibly proud of the traction the series has gained so far, but even more proud of the community that’s beginning to form around it. Hearing people tell me they can’t wait to see what I do next or how a project turns out is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that people are genuinely invested in the journey means a lot to me.

What sets me apart is my approach to content creation. Coming from a corporate background of ten years, I naturally approach things through a strategic and analytical lens. I strive to be intentional, efficient, and results-driven when creating content, whether it’s for my own platform or for brand partnerships. In 2026, social media is one of the most influential industries in the world, and having a strong business and corporate foundation has proven to be a tremendous asset. It allows me to blend creativity with strategy in a way that delivers value for both my audience and the brands I work with.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I think most people would be surprised to learn that I produce the majority of my content directly from my old iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I’ve had people ask what camera, production team, or editing software I use, but the truth is that it’s mostly just me. From filming and editing to managing communications and partnerships, I handle nearly every aspect of the process myself. It’s a reminder that you don’t always need the most expensive equipment to create quality content—you just need creativity, consistency, and a willingness to learn.
