Rising Stars: Meet Playboy 6ix of Las Vegas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Playboy 6ix.

Hi Playboy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Playboy 6ix. I’m an artist. Originally from California, I moved to Marietta, GA, while I was growing up. I’ve experienced some great things from both coasts that I put together in my music. I was raised around music all the way from my grandma’s to my parents’. I’ve been writing since about 6th grade, and still to this day, I’ve learned a lot along the way as well from being part of the group “LURKGANG” to finally taking my talent solo. It’s been ups and downs the whole way, but I wouldn’t change a thing and I’m blessed for every opportunity I’ve received.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting off my career as part of an 8-10 person group was a bit challenging, trying to learn everybody’s personalities, music taste, and style. It definitely wasn’t easy, but we always overcame whatever obstacles and flourished as brothers when it was time to perform or make music. I appreciate everything I’ve learned from all the guys being together so long, and when I decided to finally go down the solo route, it was different, good and bad, but I’ve loved every minute.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a musical artist. I’ve been creating for over 16 years now, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I was lucky to accomplish a lot of success within the group earlier in my career. We’ve opened up for NBA Youngboy, Young Dro, Juicy J, and many more. In my time being solo, I’ve focused more on perfecting my sound, visuals, and overall projects. I like the direction I’ve gone in and have been getting more comfortable along the way. I’m most proud when my 6-year-old daughter tells me to play my music every other day because she’s really my number one fan and biggest motivation.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I don’t think a lot of people know I can sing a bit. It’s something my parents tried having me and my brothers do as kids, like we were the next Jackson 5 haha, but I thank them for the little bit of vocals I got and that’s something I’ve been wanting to work on more and explore in more music. I’ve been mainly rap, but think it’s time to switch it up a bit and bring out some melodies.
