Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Bentley.
Hi Pamela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It may sound cliché, but from a very young age, I knew I wanted a career centered on helping others. As an undergraduate, I was introduced to the field of physical therapy and immediately connected with its approach to healing. The ability to help people recover and improve their quality of life without relying primarily on medications or surgical interventions strongly resonated with me. Once I discovered my passion for physical therapy, I committed myself to learning everything I could about the profession and developing the skills needed to provide the highest level of care.
My educational background includes earning a Bachelors of Science degree, with Honors, in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Bachelors of Science degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Georgia. I also earned my post professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.
I have worked across a variety of healthcare settings and treating a wide range of conditions. Over the years, I continued advancing my education and specialized training in several areas. The combination of extensive clinical experience, advanced training, and a commitment to lifelong learning has allowed me to provide the level of care I always wanted to provide to my patients.
Although owning my own practice had always been something I thought about, I spent many years convincing myself the timing was never quite right. During one of the most difficult periods of my life, I was unexpectedly presented with an opportunity through which I created Elevate Physical Therapy LLC. My goal was to provide physical therapy the way I believe it should be experienced. This August Elevate will be starting its fifth year and I couldn’t be happier!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In some ways yes. I think patients are craving the kind of PT practice I created and there is a tremendous need for the kind of specialty treatments I provide. But also in some ways no. Certainly starting my own private practice has not been easy, however it has been one of the most meaningful decisions of my life.
Like many practice owners, I kept finding reasons to wait — financial concerns, career timing, fear of stepping away from the security of working for an established healthcare systems, and wondering if there would ever be the perfect timing.
Ironically the opportunity finally came at one of the hardest moments of my life. In March of 2022, my wonderful father passed away. I spent the final week of his life helping care for him in hospice. It was just after that I was approached about renting an ideal clinic space where I could start my own private PT practice. An opportunity was literally dropped into my lap. My initial response was no. I was grieving, emotionally exhausted, and the thought of starting out on my own felt overwhelming.
However, my father was an entrepreneur. He built his small pool company from the ground up through hard work, persistence, and belief in himself. He was successful, which afforded me the ability to be the first person on either side of my family to go to college. My passion and drive were always to excel in treating patients, but now I realize that my dad’s entrepreneurial spirit was consistently an influence on me as well, ultimately giving me the final push and confidence to say yes. Opening my solo practice also became a way of honoring my dad by taking the leap into business ownership that I had delayed for years.
Like most small PT practice owners, there is a tremendous amount of ongoing hard work to build and maintain a network of prescribing doctors and patient base, navigate insurance and manage all aspects of a business independently while also balancing the emotional and financial risks of business ownership. Through all of that, my focus remained on why I started this practice in the first place — to create a more personal, patient-centered model of care that reflects how I believe physical therapy should be delivered.
As you know, we’re big fans of Elevate Physical Therapy. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Elevate Physical Therapy, I can provide the kind of care that drew me to the profession in the first place – relationship-driven, individualized and skilled treatments. Many clinics rely on high patient volume to be successful. My approach allows patients to make meaningful progress efficiently while achieving lasting results.
My practice specializes in treating musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, vestibular and balance disorders, dizziness, cervical pain, headaches, TMJ/TMD dysfunction and chronic pain. I incorporate almost 30 years of accumulated knowledge and skill with manual therapy techniques, dry needling, vestibular rehabilitation, patient education, and therapeutic exercise into treatment plans tailored specifically to each patient.
One thing that truly sets my practice apart is that every patient works directly with me one-on-one for a full hour. In today’s healthcare environment, that level of individualized attention has become increasingly rare. Many specialized practices have moved to a self-pay model because insurance reimbursement often does not support that amount of dedicated treatment time. However, I felt strongly that high-quality care should still remain accessible, so I continue to accept most major medical insurance plans, including Medicare.
I’m most proud of the relationships I build with my patients and the outcomes we achieve together. My goal is not simply to treat symptoms, but to educate and empower patients so they better understand their bodies, recover more effectively, and maintain long-term wellness. I want patients to feel heard, cared for, and confident in the rehabilitation process.
I believe people deserve more than rushed appointments and cookie-cutter treatment plans. Working with me, patients receive experienced, specialized care in a calm and supportive environment where the focus is entirely on them.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes the moments that feel the most uncertain can ultimately lead you exactly where you were meant to go.
Opening my practice during a period of grief and major life transition was not something I would have planned, but it reminded me that growth often happens outside of our comfort zone. I’m incredibly grateful for the trust my patients place in me and for the opportunity to build a practice centered around compassion, education, and truly individualized care.
I also think it’s important for people to know that physical therapy is not only about recovery after injury or surgery. It can be life-changing for chronic pain, dizziness, headaches, jaw pain, balance issues, and improving overall quality of life. My hope is that patients feel empowered to seek a clinician that truly listens to them and addresses the root causes of their symptoms.
I’ve included several pictures. The small model I’m holding is the vestibular system (assists with our balance) located in our inner ear. The infrared video recording goggles shown on one of my patients is part of my assessment process for my dizzy/vestibular patients. The head model shows the muscles of mastication – I utilize this model with educating my TMD (temporomandibular disfunction) patients. I also included a picture of me performing dry needling which I have found to be an amazing treatment technique I utilize with many of my patients suffering with musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Pricing:
- Because treatment plans are individualized, pricing can vary depending on services provided and insurance coverage. Elevate Physical Therapy accepts most major medical insurance plans, including Medicare, which helps make specialized one-on-one care more accessible to patients. For patients seeking self-pay options or wanting more information about insurance coverage and services, my website has pricing, contact information and overall information about my clinic. Once a patient scheduled and insurance information is provided, benefits are varified and an estimate of expected patient costs is obtained from the insurance company.
